My grandmother wore a perfume from Avon years ago, and I've been looking for a bottle foooorever. Of course, I can't remember the name of it, and Avon made so many. I've even contacted the company, to no avail. I scour for-sale websites every now and again to see if I can find it. This purple bottle here, is the closest I've come, though my grandma's bottle was shorter, more round and a tad darker shade of purple (with white flecks like this one). She wore it only once in awhile, but I still remember the scent so clearly.
If this picture nudges a memory from someone who might know the name of the fragrance I've been searching for, I'd be much appreciative!! Even if it doesn't smell the same anymore, I'd love to have the bottle as a keepsake.
LOL, Haven't heard of Avon for years I remember one of my mum's friends selling it door to door heheh!
ReplyDeleteHave an avontasic week Rosey 👍
Right! There were so many different kinds of door-to-door salesmen back in the day. I think the only one we let in was the insurance guy once we signed with him. :)
DeleteI know nothing about Avon. I hope you find the bottle. You did make me smile.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Hugs. ♥
Wishing you a wonderful day as well, my friend.
DeleteThat sounds like quite a task to locate one particular bottle when they produced so many through the years.
ReplyDeleteYes, they've made so many. Still hopeful!
DeleteFragrance can bring back such lovely memories! Good luck in your search for your grandmother's perfume.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly can, and thank you!
DeleteGood luck with figuring it out. I'm afraid I am not help in this. Maybe check eBay?
ReplyDeleteThanks, I do check every once in awhile in hopes of finding it. eBay has a lot of oldie but goodies.
DeleteYou make me smile, My anut use to sell avon even my girlfriend sell it too. I hope you find the special bottle.
ReplyDeleteIt's been awhile but I used to make purchases every once in awhile from Avon reps (usually at my job).
DeleteI've never heard of that one before. It is too bad that you can't take a photo of it or find a photo and do a reverse photo search on the internet. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marysa. I've tried the reverse photo but was thinking of taking the background bottles out to see if that helps the search.
DeleteI hope you're able to figure it out. eBay would be the only place I could think of to look. I've never heard of this one myself.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you for the tip. I do sometimes spend a few hours looking through eBay, hoping to come across it.
DeleteScent has a way of evoking beautiful memories.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your search for your grandmother's perfume.
Hugs and blessings, Rosey
Thanks, Veronica. Hugs & blessings to you too.
DeleteI think I heard of Avon somewhere, probably that was the perfume my mom used. Anw, you have a nice story!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a company that's a blast from the past. They used to be so popular.
DeleteAvon was the first business venture I got into. Its been a while since I last heard of Avon. Good luck in finding the perfume.
ReplyDeleteYeah. they've been gone a good long while. I remember ordering form their books every once in awhile from a lady who sold Avon where I worked.
DeleteEven if it's just the bottle as a keepsake, it'll be a beautiful connection to those sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I'd rather have the fragrance (if it hasn't turned) but I'd be happy with just the bottle.
DeleteIt's incredible how a scent can bring back vivid memories. I hope someone recognizes this distinctive purple bottle and can help you identify the fragrance!
ReplyDeleteThe bottle really is distinct. I was surprised to see this one so closely resembling it!
DeleteWow, haven't heard the name Avon in years. I sure hope you find some luck in finding the perfume, I wouldn't even know where to start.
ReplyDeleteNo easy task. I've been looking for literally years. :)
DeleteI have heard of Avon but sorry,no idea about this bottle.. hope you find it soon
ReplyDeleteThanks, it'll be awesome when I finally find it. :)
DeleteMaybe this digital archive might help with finding the product? I tried to see if I could but there are soooo many pages but if you know a bit more of the specifics maybe the filter could get narrowed down! https://digital.hagley.org/avon Hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteWow, that site is pretty extensive. Searching through it right now. Thank you!
DeleteIt’s so interesting how fragrance can bring back such vivid memory associations.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does and that's true whether it's a Christmas Tree, food, fragrance, even laundry detergent can hold powerful memories, lol. When I smell Persil I think of Prague, every single time. It smells just like the detergent our hotel used to wash our laundry.
DeleteThat's such a sweet story! I don't know what the name of this fragrance is, but I will share it with a few friends and pass it around. Someone should know if we share with enough people.
ReplyDeleteThaks, Ebony. Appreciate you!
DeleteHi Rosey - Avon is still around ... but I've no idea - I've never used any of their products. Good luck with your search - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hilary. I'm happy to see you! Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
DeleteI’m pretty sure that my grandma had some of these old cologne jars. She loved buying Avon from her friend.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your search! Sorry, that one doesn't ring a bell or I'd send you the name of it!
