Wordless Wednesday: No Humor Today

This is our reality now, and it's not fun for the boy at all.

His instinct when he was flying/crashing on the basketball court

was to put his hands out, to break his fall.

That resulted in two fractured wrists and a broken thumb. Ugh.

And on top of that, insurance is complicated and he's still in hardened fiberglass splints instead of casts.

Trying to remedy that again today. Wish us good luck!

  1. Rosey, so very sorry! Stupid insurance for adding to the pain and trouble.

    1. Yes, we had to go to the PCP to get a referral even though the emergency room already gave us a follow up referral. So, here we are on Thursday still in splints and this happened on Saturday! But... there is light at the end of the tunnel, so we're looking towards that... :)

    1. Thanks, Hilary. He's navigating things pretty well for someone who only has fingertips and no use of thumbs at the moment. Getting inventive even, lol.

  4. WOW! WOW! WOW!!! So sorry for this. I cringe every time my son gets out to play football. I know injuries happen but I pray never big. This is a big one.

  28. Oh, no! Poor kiddo! I'm sure this is hurting his heart more than the physical pain since he can't play right now :( I hope you've gotten the insurance straightened out and he's mending better now. Stupid insurance. I had to switch mine in September and I lost my doctor and my infusion center all in one fell swoop. My new doctor can't see me until December, then I'll have to go through the preapproval for my specialized medicine again, which they like to deny and make us fight for, so we're looking at probably January before I can get back on my meds. We're talking 5 months without meds at that point and it really sucks. I hate insurance.

    1. Oh my gosh, yes this!! It's such a runaround and so frustrating. The secretary called me today, someone cancelled for tomorrow and I can get him in then. I'm jumping up and down happy, and hoping it works out smoothly. To say insurance is frustrating is an understatement. I hope you're back on track soon. 5 months without is so ridiculous!
