4 Ways to Determine Your Next Travel Destination

Whether you love the road trip or prefer relaxing on a tropical beach, there are plenty of ways to scratch that travel itch. But what can you do if you aren’t sure where to go next? You know you need to travel, especially if you’ve not gotten away for a while, so how can you decide on your next destination?

Why Do You Want to Travel?

Before thinking about any destination, you should consider why you want to travel. Do you need some relaxation? Do you want to see family? Are you looking for a challenge? Maybe you have the opportunity to work and travel at the same time.

Whatever your reasons for traveling, they can point you in the right direction. Relaxation should direct you towards the beach, while challenges involve scaling mountains like Machu Picchu. If you have the chance to work, you could find roles in your field, such as RN travel nurse jobs or freelance opportunities so you can travel and support yourself.

Where Haven’t You Been?

Everyone has that destination they adore and try to revisit as often as possible. However, you probably want to go somewhere different. Immediately, this means you can tick off everywhere you’ve already been. From there, consider what destination offers what you need and determine how feasible it is to get there.

There could be a few spots you missed during your last adventure, so perhaps it's time to tick them off your bucket list. Maybe your priorities are different from the last time you got to travel and you need to consider a destination that’s good for you, your kids, and your partner.

How Long Do You Have?

Although you’d love to travel infinitely, the real world isn’t so kind. But this doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a quick trip or vacation. Check out the coolest weekend getaways that are easy to get to and allow you to see everything in two days. If you have a little longer, you might be able to hit a few spots without the stress of organizing visas or exchanging your currency.

This approach can feel rushed, and you might want to do everything there is to do, but that's not what weekend breaks are about. Instead, pick a few essential locations, such as restaurants or events, and embrace the experience.

What’s Your Budget?

You also may not be able to afford a luxury destination, but some destinations get you more bang for your buck. The cheapest international destinations could be the key to a luxury experience without breaking the bank and you can experience a new and exciting culture.

If you’ve saved up for a long time, this budget could stretch even further in countries that offer an excellent exchange rate and cost of living. You won’t need to worry about pinching every penny, and you can live a little more luxuriously than you’re used to.
