New Crisp and Woody Unisex Fragrance to Love: Be Earnest

There's no denying that I've developed a deep passion for fragrances. There are so many that I call "favorite." I must confess, however, that I don't have a single type of fragrance that I adore. The abundance of options out there, with new ones emerging constantly, makes it nearly impossible to choose a type (though I do seem to have more gourmands than anything else). What has been missing from my collection, is a nice selection of woody fragrances. Until now, I had one. Period. And I really enjoy it but I wanted more in that genre. Now I have added a new one: Rosy & Earnest's "Be Earnest" and I love it!

Count me in when a fragrance company manages to strike the perfect balance between conscientiousness and luxuriousness in their creations. That's when I know I'm truly sold! Rosy & Earnest have not only found their own niche in the world of perfumery (pun intended, given their specialization in niche scents), but they have also joined the small group of perfumers who have mastered this recipe for success.

5 reasons I love Rosy & Earnest (besides the scent itself):

1. They are EWG Certified.

What does that even mean? Well, it means the ingredients in the fragrance, every single one of them, "have been vetted through the most stringent health and safety standards by the Environmental Working Group (EWG)." It also means any claims made by Rosy & Earnest must be verified by an independent third-party. Also, please note that earning this type of certification for fine fragrances is a very difficult thing to obtain.

2. They Worked with an Award-Winning Perfumer

Rosy & Earnest understood the importance of having a clean product, but they also knew it had better smell every bit as good as top-selling fragrances already on the market. It honestly doesn't matter how conscientious a fragrance is made, if it doesn't smell good. Thankfully, award-winning perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer was brought on board and a masterpiece was born.

3. Starting Small.

They entered the market with 2 fragrances only, Be Rosy and Be Earnest. As a smaller company, they can offer both quality and exclusivity. To illustrate, their Be Rosy has Orris Butter in it. That is an ingredient that takes years to become a product that can be successfully used in a perfume.

4. They are vegan and cruelty-free.

No animal testing is going on here now, nor will it ever happen. Rosy & Earnest is proud to be vegan and 100% cruelty-free.

5. Affordability.

Most niche fragrances cost an arm and a leg to buy. Don't get me wrong, a great fragrance is worth the cost, but to find one as elegant and refined as Be Earnest and see it sold at a fraction of the cost you might expect is a welcome find.

What Does It Smell Like?

I tried the sample size of both Be Rosy and Be Earnest. The first one is nice, very soft, and great for work or a day out. For me though, it was the Be Earnest that knocked my socks off!  This is everything I like and didn't already own. As you can see, I now own a full-sized bottle.

Top notes of rhubarb and apple.
Mid Notes that are floral.
Base Notes of Canadian Fir Balsam, Virginia Cedarwood and Musk (synthetic musk)

I've been searching for reviews of this relatively new fragrance, and they've been a bit difficult to come by. However, the few I did find mention the presence of apple in the scent. Surprisingly, I don't detect any apple notes when I wear it. I understand that scent is subjective and can vary from person to person. In my case, I don't perceive the top or mid-notes either, but I do notice a strong and long-lasting blend of fir balsam and cedar. This combination creates what I consider to be the ideal unisex fragrance.

It is crisp and clean, while still being a powerhouse that draws attention, in the best of ways.

Head on over to Rosy & Earnest to learn more about the company and these fragrances. I'm sure it is a perfume house we will be hearing more from in the near future.
