Hufflepuff from House of Sillage

Summer of the Cupcakes

The House of Sillage bottles their perfumes in these elegant and very expensive (but worth it) gorgeous cupcakes. All of them are decorated with Swarovski Crystals. Many of them have a theme. Every single one of them is a stunner and the fragrances, including Hufflepuff, are scent-sational as well.

It is no wonder this brand has taken YouTube and the fragrance community by storm. Hufflepuff is one of the newer releases from the brand. It is easily the most popular of the Harry Potter-themed selections. You simply cannot go on a fragrance board group without seeing a picture of someone’s newly acquired Hufflepuff bottle. Yep, I did the same thing, of course).

Falling for the Hype

It is no secret that I am one to fall for the social media and marketing hype of a new perfume. That’s part of the fun! Sometimes I blind buy (buy without trying) but these days I’m more prone to sampling before shelling out the big bucks. This time though, I hit ‘buy’ and purchased it sight unseen.

Why? I fell for the hype.

Hufflepuff was released hot on the heels of another House of Sillage best seller: Minnie Mouse (raspberry, marshmallow deliciousness in its own right). Both are limited-edition and at the time people were f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g out because Minnie had been sold out for weeks. No one knew if the Hufflepuff was going to suffer the same fate, because it was selling like cupcakes hot cakes.

I definitely had FOMO (fear of missing out) and jumped on the bandwagon without even giving it a second thought. As good fortune would have it, I’m not sorry that I did.

Hufflepuff Fragrance Notes

Hufflepuff was created using the following fragrance notes:

  • Top: Italian Lemon, Peach Pulp, Coconut Cream Accord
  • Heart: Sambac Jasmine, White Freesia, Gardenia
  • Base: Vanilla Bourbon, Virginian Cedar, Vanilla Beans Absolute

It is sweet to a fault (in the very best of ways) and definitely one to be classified as gourmand. I smell a sugary (not tart) lemon and coconut mix that is smooth and decadently creamy. A dollop of vanilla is added and then it is sprinkled with a touch of peach floral for good measure. It’s just delicious.

Even though this is a modern perfume (very!) there is just a touch of nostalgia in there. It takes me back to my youth but I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe it’s the peach trees outside of my grandparent’s house? I don’t think it’s the scent memory of the jasmine in my mother-in-law’s yard? Maybe it’s a mix of both. That would explain why it’s so hard to put my finger on what is hitting my yesteryear memory, because those experiences happened at very different times in my life.

For the Harry Potter Lovers

Hufflepuff is part of The House of Sillage’s limited-edition Harry Potter series. You can buy a tester set that has all of the fragrances available, or buy the bottles individually. The cap on this cupcake is adorned with 150 hand-placed Swarovski crystals. It is bright yellow to represent the colors of the Hufflepuff house. The beloved badger mascot is on display.

The craftsmanship is top-of-the-line elegance. That is no surprise. If you’ve ever seen any of this fragrance house’s cupcakes, you know you are assured refined elegance. Hufflepuff is sure to do any Harry Potter fan or perfume collector proud.

It’s Sold Out

As luck would have it, I feel fortunate to have snagged a bottle of this when I did. The hype train did propel it to a ‘sold out’ status. You cannot buy it on the House of Sillage website right now.

Luckily, this fragrance house does sometimes restock their limited-editions. It would not surprise me one bit if this one returns. When that happens (if it happens), I highly recommend you grab it while you can.

That hype train I mentioned is real and it will sell out again. In fact, there will come a time when you will never be able to purchase this from their website again. I know because I missed out on Wonder Woman (another limited edition fragrance from the House of Sillage). Twice. And my life has never been the same.

Update: Hufflepuff has been restocked and is available for a limited time only.
