Southern Gospel is one of those movies that tugs at your heartstrings, but it's still so good. Let me say up front that it's not really a movie for kids. There is an advisory on it for a reason. There are some very adult themes. But this movie hit right for sending across the message of the gospel. The message that no matter what you do, or how you act, there is a God in heaven who loves you, who wants you to reach out to him, and who will always be glad when you do. Don't miss this story of redemption, coming to theaters March 10th.
Raised in the church, a 1960s rockstar goes out on his own, and delves into a life his preacher father would have never wanted for him. When he ends up in jail, he decides it's time to reconsider the path he's taken and he goes back to his roots, ending up (in a very strange twist of fate you'll disover at the end of the movie) the pastor of the church his father led before him.
In addition to the gripping storyline, there is also some really good music to be enjoyed in this movie. Who knew Katelyn Nacon had such a beautiful voice? This is my first time to hear her singing and she did such a good job!
Featuring four-time Emmy nominee, Max Ehrich, Katelyn Nacon (Walking Dead), Emma Myers (Netflix's Wednesday), and J. Alphonse Nicholson (P. Valley and Just Mercy), the characters in the story feel real, and that's probably because this movie is based on a true story. I enjoyed it start to finish and can easily recommend it to others. Take a little time out of your schedule to go enjoy this movie. It's worth the time and effort.
