I'm just hanging out in the airport today, with my new friend, Ember. She is a 15 1/2" plush firefighter doll and she is adorable. I've never seen a firefighter doll, much less one that is female, and I have to tell you, I am smitten. What a wonderful holiday gift idea for any one of my four granddaughters!
Here's a closer look. She's adorable right? Her hair is extra long and brushable. You can take it out of the braids and style any way you please. She is also soft all the way around, no hard edges or plastic, so even the smallest of children, recommended for ages 3+, can enjoy the land of make-believe with their new friend.
I was the queen of pretend when I was a young girl, and I can tell you, having a firefighter in my doll collection would have elevated my imaginative play time ten-fold.
Her Triple F axe, gloves, and bunker coat are all removable and the suspenders and hat are sewn on so it always looks like a firefighter. She comes with a booklet that shows how each part of the gear protects her in a fire.
An inspirational quote from a real female firefighter, along with their autograph is also included in the package. For each doll purchased, a percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Triple F Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that directly supports female firefighters and women in the emergency medical services who are battling cancer, on-the-job injuries, PTSD, and other medical emergencies.

So great that they made it a female doll for a firefighter - it's something you wouldn't expect
ReplyDeleteI love this so much! As the granddaughter of a firefighter, it fills me with so much joy to see females represented in this profession. Allison considered firefighting as a career and went to talk with the firefighters that were assigned to her school at career day, but they were sexist and told her she would probably be better suited talking to the hair dressers and cosmetologists that were a few booths down about a career choice after graduation. We need to normalize that both sexes can do ANY job and this is a step in the right direction to ending the male/female job ability stigmatization.
ReplyDeleteOh no they didn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kids can be so impressionable too, shame on them! I'm sure Allison knew they were just full of pfffht (because you're her mom) but some kids could let something like that stop their pursuit of a dream. That ticks me off.
