As a parent, it is definitely useful to have a number of desserts in mind that you can create whenever you might need to. After all, kids love sweet things, and from time to time it’s nice to be able to provide them with something that they will love to eat. Of course, there are many approaches to this and a lot of desserts that you might want to learn to make. In this post, we’ll take a look at just a few genuine crowd-pleasers that you might want to learn how to make. These are definitely worth knowing about at least.
Cupcakes
You can’t go far wrong with cupcakes, and they are the kind of versatile dessert that your children are definitely going to love having from time to time. You can make them into pretty much anything you like with the right decoration - and you can even get your kids involved in the decoration themselves if you want to make it a little more fun and exciting. Once you know how to make a simple sponge cake, you know how to make cupcakes, and then it’s just the icing and so on, so this is a very simple one to learn. I have never met a kid who didn't love a cupcake.
Donuts
Who doesn’t love a donut? Your kids are probably going to appreciate donuts whenever they appear in the home, and they’ll be amazed if you are able to put some together at a moment’s notice. Many kinds of donuts are really quite simple to make, and you should therefore make sure that you have the essentials down regarding the dough itself. From there you can make classic American donuts, or you can get into making homemade zeppole, a traditional Italian variation on this theme. In any case, it’s bound to go down well in the home.
Brownies
Similarly to cupcakes, lots of kiddos love brownies, more or less, and you are going to be able to make them easily enough as long as you have some basic understanding of how they work and what goes into them. They are a very simple mix of eggs, flour, sugar and usually cocoa, and of course there are all kinds of brownies that you might like to make. Your kids can get involved in their making too, and this is a real licking-the-spoon kind of recipe, so it can also be a nice bonding experience. Plus, they’re just delicious for kids of all ages.
Traybake
If you have nothing else in the house but you just want to throw together some yummy dessert, then you might want to consider a traybake. You can make this easily as a kind of flat sponge cake, and all you’ll need is to make sure you have plenty to put on top. Essentially, it’s the same ingredients as the cupcakes mentioned above, so it’s something you should pretty much always have the ingredients for in your home. That’s a really good reason to make sure you are trying them out from time to time.
I ate the cupcake and the brownies. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. I hope you're feeling better. ♥
I am all about finding stuff that the whole family can enjoy, not just traditional desserts. These all sound delicious, and I love the idea of a traybake.
ReplyDeleteDeserts can make everyone happy.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosey - all those many years ago ... I used to love making a Victoria Sandwich - coffee flavoured - I guess something else perhaps in the States ... but it's great getting kids involved in the kitchen - cheers and happy weekend - Hilary
