We all need to kick back and relax here and there. So many of us lead hectic and busy day to day lives and commonly begin to feel worn down, overwhelmed or experience full blown burnout. This isn’t something that can be maintained long term. It will have a negative impact on your wellbeing, your health and your overall happiness and quality of life. But what can you do to take some time out and really unwind? Here are a few suggestions that should help you to get started on this journey in the right direction.
Massage
Massage is associated with rest and relaxation for good reason. Many of us will head for a massage or spa day with friends and family for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries and more. But you can actually incorporate massage into your more regular routine for a reasonable cost. You just need to find a good parlour or spa with discounted prices. Some places offer decreased rates for those who attend once a week or fortnight. Massage helps you to unwind by immersing you in a relaxing environment, free from external distractions, at an enjoyable temperature and often with tranquil music or sounds. A professional massage therapist will then carry out your massage of choice. Popular options include Swedish massage, hot oil massage and hot stone massage. Do a little research into the options available to find what best suits you and your needs.
Gummies
There are a wide range of gummies, like Delta 8 Gummies, that are infused with CBD to give a relaxing effect. I have never tried any CBD products but my kids' aunt and my BFF swear by them. This is a great way to relax and unwind, after an enjoyable sweet treat and experience the calming effects. If you’d like to try something other than CBD, there are other plant-based products that can help too. Chamomile tea is a good example.
Time Outdoors
We tend to spend a lot of time cooped up at our desks or indoors. When’s the last time you spent some time outdoors in nature? Spending time outside can really help you to reconnect with nature and spend some time in the elements, seeing and hearing wildlife, stretching your legs, feeling the wind in your hair and seeing some beautiful local sites. Pick out some nearby beauty spots.
Meditation
Meditation is an age old practice that allows you to remove yourself from day to day life and responsibilities, instead focusing on experiencing things as they happen and accepting them as they are. This is very different from the way we usually see the world, as we constantly analyze and try to understand what’s going on around us. Meditation, of course, is a skill that needs to be learnt over time. You may want to try following online tutorials, or attending guided meditation classes, to built this skillset and you’ll soon be able to meditate on your own, as and when you please.
These are a few different ideas that might help you to wind down when life gets a little too much. Hopefully, some of the suggestions will help you along the way!
Jason keeps trying to get me to do a couples massage, but the idea of strangers rubbing on my body freaks me out. I just can't. I'll settle for some tea and a good book though to wind down.
