Solitaire.org brought back a bit of nostalgia for me.
My teen and I were playing board games last weekend, and when he was going through the games, he was shocked to come across playing cards. I told him we've had them forever (some of them from before he was even born). I used to put photos on everything, so we have a few decks of cards from places I traveled to even before he was born. That got me thinking that the only cards I've played with him that he might remember are Old Maid and Uno. If memory serves me correctly, we've used the regular cards to play Slap Jack or Go Fish, but he'd have been too young maybe, to recall those times. My grandma used to play EVERYTHING with me... Bingo, puzzles, board games, and cards. We'd play double solitaire sometimes, or when I was busy doing whatever kids do, she'd pick the deck up and play a game of solitaire on her own. I can still see her sitting at her dining room table playing. It's a fond memory for me. Every memory of my gram is a fond memory.
So, when I coincidentally came across Solitaire.org the next day, I decided to take a little time out to play. It was nice to just sit down and do nothing that had a deadline, for a bit of time. It's free to play and there are a ton of other games you can select too.
If you want to play with others, you can do that too. I went through the menu to see what was available and there was a Crazy Eights game. I clicked it and played with three other people. Though I've played this game with all four of my kids, it took me a minute to remember how to play. Once it came back to me, it was fun to run a couple of rounds.
If remembering how to play hadn't come back to me, I'd have been able to look up the instructions on the site. The little bit of geek in me appreciates that you can find a history of the game you are playing too.
So, since I was on nostalgia avenue, I also pulled up a crossword puzzle (I told you, there are a lot of games on this site). My mom always did the crosswords in our family. Gram did them sometimes, but Word Searches were more her thing. I remember mom loved to do these so much that she'd buy paperback books full of them, pull them out of the newspaper, etc. In modern times, you can just head on over to Solitaire.org and print one out or do it online. The only thing different from this crossword and the ones my mom had, are my mom's had an upside down answer key at the bottom, or an answer key in the back of the book. This one you can type a letter and if it's wrong it will be red. If it's correct, it will be green.
If you're a person who likes to see stats, you can access those on this site too. I would say I refuse to believe that I played 21 games, and didn't win any of them, because when playing with my kids, I kick butt!! LOL but the proof is in the pudding. 😏😅
That's okay, I had a good time. It's nice to have something different to distract me. This is a website I've added to my favorite websites, so I can pull it up again. I'm happy to have found it, and wanted to share it with you, in case you would like to play in your down time every now and again too.
Access Solitaire.org to see which games you might like to play.
I saved this to my desktop. The crossword one is what I want to do, but there are so many games. Wow.
