We went to Miami recently, and for some of the stores in the Shopping District you have to wait in a que before gaining admittance. While standing in some of those lines, I cannot tell you the number of times I detected La Vie Est Belle by Lancôme, wafting through the air. It's a very distinct scent, unlike any other and I love it so much! It is a bold, noticeable fragrance with a strong Patchouli and Vanilla base and it lasts all day long. The sillage is amazing too. You can definitely tell when someone is wearing it.
The fragrance is so popular (you may have seen the Julia Roberts' ads and commercials for it) that Lancôme often creates spin-off fragrances for it (the flankers you have probably heard me mention before).
One of the flankers I hadn't been able to try until recently was the La Vie Est Belle Intensément. A lot of people say it's very different from the original, but I don't think it's 100% different. They do share the same DNA profile, so there are similarities. The Intensément however, seems to be more bubbly and energetic than its sister frag. Perhaps that is the raspberry note coming out to play? It's not as serious as the original, but it every bit as good.
Because its dance is a little more sprightly than the OG, this is the one that is better for summer. The original is tucked away behind her, waiting for cooler weather to come back (though I wear the original to sleep just so I can smell it, the vanilla is so rich and comforting).
Most of us know someone who wore the original Trésor back in the day. In our family, it was me, and I still remember how much I enjoyed that fragrance. The thing is, I wore it so much (back then I only owned one or two bottles of perfume tops, and I'd just wear the same scent over and over again) that I wore it out (for me). I see it has stood the test of time though, and is still for sale on the website!! That made me curious to find the launch date, and as far as I can tell, the original came out in 1952!!
The flankers that followed are nice, and they come in these wonderful diamond bottles. The one I recommend for summer is the Lancôme La Nuit Trésor Nude. It is a rich and creamy citrus and coconut blend that is light enough for day but rich enough for night. The lasting power, as with all perfumes from this brand, is phenomenal.
I don't have a signature scent because I enjoy fragrances too much to stick to just one these days. I literally wear something new every day. There are some days I take a break, but for the most part, selecting my fragrance for the day is as important as putting together my outfit. If the morning is a rush and I forget my fragrance, I feel like something is missing all day long. If I did have to select a signature scent though, this one would be a contender.
Such a pretty scent for summer, or year-round if you pay no attention to 'warm-weather/cool-weather advice' (raises hand and jumps up and down because I apply no rules at all to my perfume, other than being polite with it at work).
Check out the other flankers from this line. Each has a different hue to it and the diamond bottles look spectacular for each and every one of them. Seriously, my photo does this gorgeous bottle no justice at all. It is so much prettier in person.
This one, unfortunately, has been discontinued, but it is such a perfect summer scent. If you have it, hurrah! If you do not, and you are lucky enough to come across one for sale somewhere, I would suggest snagging it. Not many people are willing to part with this one, and for good reason.
Iris Dragées smells like sugared almonds and Iris. It is nice, bright and almost laundry fresh (but a little more 'perfumy'). It's a scent that takes you by surprise because it is so uniquely fresh, sweet and pleasant all at the same time. This one brings summer smiles aplenty.
Iris Dragées comes from the Maison Lancôme line which is a little different that the traditional selections:
"Lancôme has appointed some of the greatest contemporary perfumers to pay homage to Lancôme’s founder, Armand Petitjean. The result is Maison Lancôme, a new collection of fragrances that so exquisitely touch upon and carry on Petitjean’s dream, and the essence of the House itself.
This new High Perfumery experience takes a creative stance: the very French art of blending. Each fragrance is crafted in the same manner that one composes a wine of the most superior grade (Grand cru), with a combination of varieties, origins, and extractions that are all specially selected according to precise criteria."

It's a little more refined; a little more luxurious feeling than the other fragrances (that are 100% perfect in their own right).
Conclusion
If you are in the market for a summer perfume, Lancôme is always a good way to go. They have been making fragrances that women love for a very long time. I'm sure that you've heard of them, and probably worn or been privy to smell something being worn, from their extensive list of fragrances.
Check the Lancome website, where you will often find awesome savings. I sometimes come across deals that are too hard to resist when visiting (there is currently one where select fragrances are 50% off!). Who doesn't love a good deal on a sublime fragrance?
