There’s nothing wrong with getting older. We’re able to acquire wisdom, enjoy the small moments of life, and see our loved ones grow up and become awesome people. However, it’s also true that there are certain aspects of youth that we’d like to hold on to. It’s nice to be able to enjoy the benefits of having youth on our side as well as enjoy the advantages of growing older.


However, this won’t just happen on its own. You need to make it happen. If you let life take its course, then you could end up feeling less youthful than you’d like, even if you’re still relatively young. It’s important to remember, however, that there are always things you can do that will have you feeling young!

A Sense of Wonder When we’re younger, we tend to throw ourselves into life with a sense of adventure and wonder. It doesn’t take much for us to grow excited by life. But as we get older, that tends to leave us a little. We have a habit of failing to notice all that is wondrous about life. However, that’s only if we run on autopilot. There are plenty of things we can do to regain that sense of wonder. It can be by doing something as simple as taking the time to slow down and live in the present, or you can take a trip to somewhere magical — there’s no shortage of destinations! Get Active Movement is the key to feeling youthful. If your body feels good, then you’ll feel good — it’s as simple as that! OK, maybe it’s not quite as simple as that, but there’s no denying that working up a sweat will take you a long way towards feeling great. There are exercises that you can do no matter how old you are. If you’re not used to exercising, then start slow. It can take a while before you begin to feel the effects, but within a few weeks, you’ll notice that you have much more energy than before. Stretch It Out As well as exercise, you should take a look at doing yoga. This is something that is increasingly popular with people of all ages, and with good reason — they say that you stay the same age as you are when you first start doing yoga. That might be overstating it a little bit, but you get the idea. Over time, our bodies tend to tense up, and that’s largely because we spend so much time in the same positions; we’re usually sat down with our heads bowed towards a screen of some sort. Yoga helps to open you up. Indeed, if you’ve never done yoga, then you might be surprised at how good you feel after you’ve finished your first yoga class. Youthful Looks It’s fair that while it’s one thing to feel young, you’ll also want to look as young as possible too. We all want to see a youthful face smiling back at us when we look in the mirror. While age will always have an impact on your appearance, there are things you can do that’ll make you look younger than you really are. The best cosmetic surgeon in your area will be able to help you a lot, as will looking after your skin and using the right products. You can also visit a hair salon and get professional hair treatment. With all those things, you could really make yourself look many years younger than you actually are. Challenge Your Views Our mindset can begin to feel old if we become “stuck in our ways.” By that, we mean that we stop evolving our thoughts. Instead, we just repeat the same old opinions, again and again. Of course, there are some things that we’ll always believe. But there are other things that we may change our mind on if we give it time. For instance, many people, at some point in their life, begin to believe that music was better in the old days. But, of course, that’s never true. You might find that the music of today is exceptional just by giving it a try or attending a concert. So make a habit of thinking about which views you tend to keep hold of, and then find ways to put them to the test. You might be surprised at what you find. Eat Healthy Never doubt that you are what you eat! It’s really true. There are people of retirement age who are healthier than they were when they were younger because they take the time to prepare fresh and healthy meals. There are also plenty of vitamins and supplements you can take that’ll have a positive impact, too. For instance, maca powder has been shown to be exceptionally good when it comes to getting energy. Keep Social Is there a better method for staying youthful than laughing with friends? We don’t think so. Indeed, the people who live in the places where people live the longest often credit their happy social times as the main reason for their longevity. So make sure that you find a social group to spend time with. You can do anything — indeed, there could be a group in your local area that spends time outdoors, going on walks. That’d be a great way to stay social and stay healthy at the same time. Work With Others Another way for you to retain your youth is to volunteer your time to help others. This is an underrated way because it’s not only you that benefits, but other people too. Studies have shown that lending a helping hand can have a dramatically positive impact on various aspects of your wellbeing, including your blood pressure. Plus, studies have shown that it can boost the immune system too, which means you’ll be keeping your body in tip-top condition. Regular Checkups Finally, take a look at getting regular checkups. That will help you to catch any potential problems before they become bigger. You should visit a traditional doctor but also look at working with others, such as a chiropractor or a podiatrist. Once every few months will let you know that you’re in good shape. Conclusion As we said at the beginning of the blog, there’s nothing wrong with growing older. We learn a lot and can experience life to the fullest no matter what age we are. However, it’s also a good idea to work on preserving our youthfulness in any way that we can; it’s not something that’ll disappoint us! So give the above tips a try, and within a month or so, you might just find that you feel younger than ever before.

  3. Yes it's true we should embrace the years and be grateful for them, the minute we are born we start aging. I enjoy more of the quieter activites as I get older as I find that doing too much can stress me out. I think perhaps they are more like self-care activities, which I feel keeps me looking younger. I consider gardening a self-care activity that calms me and keeps me active. That and also eating foods rich in healthy oils.

  7. My friend just passed away last week. She was only 52. I've been thinking about her battle with cancer a lot lately. She should have had many more years ahead of her. It's not fair. I will embrace aging with all that I have. Someone this spring told me I was old. Geesh, when did 42 become "old"? It was a comment that was meant to be hurtful. "You look young but you're actually pretty old!" I had to sit this 28 year old kid down and explain to him that if he was trying to be mean, it didn't work. There have been many times over the years that I didn't think I was even going to live to see both of my kids graduate high school, so every day and year that I get is a freaking blessing. I get excited every year as those numbers on my age continue to grow. I'm sure my friend would have been thrilled to see 53, even if it meant she was "super old"!
