Coming soon! For two days only, you can head to the local movie theater and watch a documentary hosted by Kirk Cameron, that delves into the pros and cons of homeschooling, and answers frequently asked questions about it as well. If this is something that you have been considering for your children, what better way to get some insight, then to kick up your feet in the theater (assuming your theater has those fancy recliners so many of them do now) with a tub of popcorn and a soda while soaking in all of the information that The Homeschool Awakening will provide?
Homeschooling was popular for awhile when my oldest two boys were little, and then I didn't really hear all that much about it. I know there were people who were still proponents of it, but it didn't have that boom of popularity like it did previously. Once again however, it is something I am hearing about more and more, and I have been taking note.
My oldest granddaughter is successfully homeschooled, and albeit she has always been a smart cookie, she is absolutely above and beyond her grade and age level because of it. I am certain this is true because as a traditional teacher, I see data all of the time and my homeschooled grandbabe is way past her peers when it comes to education. Her parents took her out of public school when the pandemic hit, and enjoyed homeschooling so much that she never went back. It helps that they both primarily work from home so they were able to easily adjust their schedules to give her the optimum learning experience.
I have another child, my daughter, who has two girls under the age of 3. She has already expressed the desire to homeschool them as well. Her reasons are different from her brother's, but they are just as sound.
Homeschooling is a viable option that parents have. If it is something you have been thinking about, why not head on in to theaters next Monday or Tuesday (June 13th or 14th) to see what Cameron has to share?

When I went to school is was to learn reading, writing and arithmetic. Many places are into politics and social justice. These kids may not be doing as well because of that. I would home school if I had kids unless I could be sure that they are teaching what they should be teaching.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day and weekend, my friend. ♥
I homeschool my kids.
ReplyDeleteHomeschooling has always been on my radar, but we never did it. It seemed so daunting. I'm glad I found this.

ReplyDeleteI think after so many parents had to homeschool their kids during lockdowns more are choosing to do it longer term. So this would be very interesting to make an informed decision x
ReplyDeletemy kids are struggling with school and i think we need to homeschool again
ReplyDeleteDuring Lockdown we had to homeschool our children, and it was a big challenge. Hats off to those who can do it full time!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like it would be interesting to watch. I know more have turned to homeschooling over the last few years. This would be useful for them.
ReplyDeleteKirk Cameron is so cool. What a great program for parents especially during these times. The pandemic really shifted the educational scene. I was homeschooled throughout highschool long before it was accepted by society but I'm glad to see that it's more accepting now. Some kids I think thrive more with that one-on-one system than in a class where they tend to get drowned out.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about homeschooling my teenage kids, but I know it takes a lot of dedication and patience to do it.
ReplyDeleteHomeschooling has always appealed to me.
ReplyDeleteI would've loved to have home schooled my children who are now adults.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful show for sure and I will have to check this out ;) I loved Kirk Cameron for sure growing up ;)
ReplyDeleteOh wow fascinating I definitely want to watch this. I definitely know there are pros and cons to homeschooling from when we did it over covid. Will be interesting to see what points are covered.
ReplyDeleteI admire anyone who can home school their own children, I couldn't do it!

ReplyDeleteinteresting! I wish I had the time (and patience) to homeschool
ReplyDeleteI’m curious if homeschooled students have to take standardized tests.
ReplyDeleteI teach for an online (public) school. I am glad that these options are becoming available tor students who cannot attend their brick and mortar school - for whatever reason
