I have a new grandpet, and this is what he looks like. So, to welcome him into the family, I got him his own Smart Mats Studio pet mat. It's rather smart looking, don't you think? 🐶
This is the best company for pet mats because they are not only so thick and sturdy, but they also have an antibacterial agent embedded inside of them to prevent germs, viruses and bacteria. The patented moisture barrier will serve well to protect my daughter's floors.
At first I thought this would be a great mat for putting Doggo's food and water bowl on top of, and it would be because it has a non-skid bottom to prevent slipping and sliding, but because it's also cooling and massaging, I can see their little man stretching his body out and lying on it for a mid-morning cat dog nap (and you know puppies play hard, but they sleep hard too).
Then again, they could put it by the back door (the way their dog goes in an out to use the restroom). The original curly coil design traps dirt, sand and moisture, so his little feet would be getting a little swipe wipe every time he went in and out, without him even knowing it. And he's going outside a lot right now, as they work on potty training him. Yes, they are potty training their youngest daughter and their new puppy at the same time, lol. Welcome to family life. ;)
These UV and mildew resistant mats are super easy to clean in the sink or with a hose, they last three times as long as ordinary mats and they have the United States Environmental Protection Agency Seal of Approval.
Finally, you can customize the mat. I almost did that, but opted out because I think it is perfect as is. The little dog on it is so cute looking, and the colors will fit right in at my daughter's place.
If you like what you see, head on over to Smart Mats Studio where you will find many different selections to choose from, for your house, front door, or even (like we chose) for your pet. They even have yoga mats!! The quality on these is second to none and I am very happy with it, and with the mat.
OKAY, THERE'S SOMETHING FOR THE SWEET DOGGO,
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CAT IN THE FAMILY?
As many of you know, we adopted a 10-year old cat from the shelter a little over 4 years ago. The story is a nice one... we went into the shelter, which is really a few houses on a large piece of property (the owners have a house there too) where the cats can roam around freely, and safely. There were SO many cats there, and everything smelled so clean and fresh, so you know they are taking good care of their animals. They also have a cat quarantine building on site, where they nurse sick cats back to health, but that is a story for another day.
My son had never had his own pet, and he has always been scared of dogs. So, one day he woke up and I asked him if he wanted to go get a cat. I've never seen a child move so fast. We'd been looking at cats the day before...this same shelter had very cleverly brought some cats into the pet store and we'd gone in to look at them.
We walked around the buildings and the lady was trying to convince us to take a kitten, and while they were adorable, we wanted to keep looking. In between houses was an area with a couple of benches under a covering, where you could sit. We sat down for a minute, and a cat, our cat, came barreling out of one of the houses and literally wrapped herself around my son's legs. It was love at first sight, she had picked her boy.
Now, that's not the end of the story. We've had her a few years now (she's curled up next to me as I type) and she has a very spoiled, good cat life here, but... her personality is NOT to barrel out of a house and wrap herself around anyone. She stays away from people she doesn't know, and doesn't bond naturally either (except for with her boy!). It took me over a year for her to want to come to me, and I'm the one who feeds her, lol.
I remember sitting in one room giving the cat little love scratches, that she was clearly enjoying, and the boy would just say, 'hey mom' in another room and she would take of running to go to him. I could have been feeding her and she'd have left me. She just loved him so, so much. And he loves her back the same. She has, however, come to love me too (hurrah!) it just took a lot longer.
I always say the boy and the cat were a match from the get-go. When you know, you know.
One thing our cat appreciates is a soft brushing. It's hard to do though because one swipe fills the brush up, then I have to manually take out her hair and start over. There is a better way! These HandsOn Animal Gloves are like an extension of me, and to the cat, it just seems like I am petting her, which makes them super convenient and easy to use.
She is not a super long-haired cat, but she does have a lot of hair, and if I don't brush it off of her, I will see little tufts of it flying around the hard wood floors every now and again. While her hair is cute on her, it is not cute on my floor and the little nubbies on the glove are perfect for trapping any loose hair before it becomes flying fluff floating around my house, while she gets to enjoy a little massage.
These gloves come in several colors and sizes and are perfect to use wet or dry (you can use them for a dog too, and I think they would be perfect for bathing them!). They are a nice, thick material so they are bound to last for a long time. While I use them for de-shedding our cat, you can use them any way you please. They really do have quite a few uses.
There's a Giveaway!
Could you use a pair of these HandsOn gloves for the pet you have in your home? If so, there is a giveaway! One lucky winner gets a pair to call their own. Winner chooses size and color. US entries only. Good luck to all who enter.

ReplyDeleteThese types of mats are really great to set under or in front of cat litter boxes, too!
ReplyDeleteYour grandpet is too cute. We have both cats and dogs at home and I don't want them to feel jealous of each other, so I always make sure the treats that I bring home are for everyone.

ReplyDeleteLoki and Odin would love the dog one. This would be great for summer months
ReplyDeleteI love that story about your son and his cat. I'm sure they are quite the pair, the two of them. My cat was found on my aunt's farm. I have never been a cat person, but I am totally smitten with mine and have been thinking about getting another one. We had to put our female boxer down last month and the house feels a little less with her gone. I don't want another dog right now because I travel so much in the fall and winter, it just isn't fair to one. Cats are much easier and not as needy as dogs. The mitt looks fantastic! I need to get one for my Emily because she sheds so much and I feel like I constantly have her cat hair on my face!
ReplyDeleteOur cat sheds everywhere!! Constant fur balls to clean up, but I'm not mad at her. :) I'm sorry to hear about your boxer. :(
DeleteMy dog sheds a lot, so this would be really handy to have!
ReplyDeleteI love this story!
