There are many things to consider when you go on an island holiday. You will need something for the sunny days and protection for the rainy ones. With so much to think about, it can be challenging to remember everything that is important while packing your suitcase. To help you out with this challenge, we have come up with a list of 9 essentials that should be in every traveler's bag!

2) Quality Sunscreen
The sun will be a big part of your trip, and it's important to make sure you have sunscreen with you. Look for a water-resistant one, so it doesn't easily wash off when swimming or playing in the ocean waves. The higher SPF number means better protection against harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun! A good tip would also be to invest in an after-sun lotion. This can help cool down your skin as well as rehydrate it after being exposed to the hot summer sky all day long!
3) Spending Money
Make sure you have some spending money with you when going on the trip! You never know what kinds of amazing items will be found in shops such as buying gifts from Hawaii, and it can become quite tempting to make a purchase. Some people like using cash for this reason, as there is no limit to how much they are willing to spend. If that's your style, simply take all of your cash out before boarding the plane or boat - but remember, not all islands accept cards internationally! If credit/debit cards are more convenient for you, these should definitely come along. Not only do they allow access to ATMs around the world without incurring extra charges if used correctly, but they also offer protection against theft or damage while traveling abroad. Just remember not to leave your cards unattended, as this can lead to theft!
4) Swimming Clothes
When on an island holiday, swimming is a must-do activity! Make sure you have some swimwear to make you feel comfortable and confident. A bikini or swim shorts are perfect for ladies, while board shorts and rash guards work well for men. If you're not sure what to pack, take a look at the latest trends in swimwear - this way, you can be sure to look stylish even when wet!
5) A Raincoat
Even tropical islands can have sudden rain showers, so it's important to be prepared. A lightweight and waterproof raincoat is perfect for these situations and won't take up much space in your luggage. Make sure the coat has a hood, too, as this will keep your head and hair dry during downpours!
6) A Pair Of Sandals
When the sun is out, there's nothing better than being able to go for a walk around the island in some comfortable sandals. Make sure to choose a pair that will be suitable for both beach and town walks - something like Birkenstocks or Havaianas would work well. If you're traveling during the winter months, it might also be a good idea to bring along a warm pair of slippers too!
7) Mosquito Repellent
One thing that you definitely don't want to have to worry about while on vacation is getting bitten by mosquitoes. Pack a good mosquito repellent and use it every evening before bed to avoid this. Many different types are available on the market, so find one that works well for you and stick to it!
8) A Hat
Another item that can come in handy during sudden rain showers or when the sun is too intense. A wide-brimmed hat will protect your face and neck from the sun, while a beanie can keep your head warm on cooler days.
9) Light Evening Clothes
When the sun goes down, you'll want to have some light and comfortable clothes to put on. We recommend something like a loose-fitting t-shirt and shorts or a maxi dress for ladies. Men can choose between shorts or pants, with a polo shirt or T-shirt being a perfect choice. Remember to avoid anything that's too tight or heavy - island holidays are all about feeling relaxed and comfortable!
In conclusion, it's important to prepare well for an island holiday. Make sure you have all of the above items before heading off on your trip and don't forget about sun protection!
Then you pack, wait a few days and take half the clothes out of the suitcase to make room for the cool island shirts/shorts you can purchase. Excellent list.
