God With Us: A Journey Home with BOOK GIVEAWAY

There are certain staples we give each year and books definitely fall into that category. Fostering the love of reading in our children is important. This year, I'll be gifting "God With Us: A Journey Home" by Jeremy Pierre.

Accompanying Pierre's beautiful writing, you will find the colorful illustrations of Cassandra Clark. This story retells the greatest story ever told. It is over 250 pages, so there is plenty of material to dive into. We'll be reading a little each night, which we find to be a relaxing way to end the day. When my kids were little (all of them) we'd read while they were tucked into bed. Now that my youngest is a teenager (no more babies in the house), we sit on the couch, and take turns reading to each other. Those days/memories are nice, especially since he is getting older and more prone to picking up an electronic device than a book these days. They say reading together created a solid bond and good memories for the child, but I'm here to tell you, that it creates wonderful memories for the parent as well.

Often times after we read, especially if it is a story like this, we will also pray together when we're done. I can't tell you how important it is to me that my children understand they have a source to turn to for any and all of their needs as they navigate the sometimes rough course of life. Instilling in them the life skills of turning to prayer first, and seeing God's work in their lives, is a gift that cannot be measured. It is also the gift that will keep giving. My youngest does accept Jesus into his life, and that leaves my heart very much at peace for him.
