Successful time management is a skill that can transform your life as a parent. However, building a strategy that actually allows you to spend more time with the people you love isn’t easy.
Thankfully, we’ve got a selection of top tips that will help you achieve the desired results. Here’s all you need to know.
1| Combine chores with family time
The right mentality can have a telling influence on your daily habits and general happiness. Cooking with the kids, for example, is a great way to show how essential tasks can become a source of fun. A little creativity goes a long way.
Aside from spending more time with your loved ones, it’s a concept that will aid your relationship with household chores. And this reduced stress should indirectly influence your approach to other tasks, including your work.
2| Use automation
Modern tech has come a long way in recent years. Modern computers are capable of completing many tasks far quicker than humans ever could. Calculating your expenses, automating payments, and completing cleaning tasks are just some examples.
In addition to washing machines and dishwashers, you can now find robotic vacuums and more. When supported by tools like instant booking taps, you’ll find that little time savings throughout the week soon add up.
3| Get outside help
Automated tech isn’t the only extra support that can be gained. A grocery delivery service, for example, saves you the hassle of heading to the store. Moreover, once your favorites have been saved, repeat orders can take just seconds.
It saves time and stress on a regular basis. Additional forms of external support include having a landscape gardener visit your property. When you spend less time on time-consuming tasks, your time can be invested elsewhere.
4| Reduce social media time
If you repeat the same results as before, you will see the same outcomes. Therefore, implementing some changes will be a necessity for most people. Spending less time on social media is one of the easiest to embrace. Make sure you do it right away.
There’s no need to stop using social media altogether. However, if you are one of the millions who spend at least two hours of each day on their favorite apps, you must stop. Aside from saving time, it’ll protect your mental wellness.
5| Focus on routine
Effective time management is largely about establishing a sense of control. As a parent, you often wish you had versatility. In reality, routines are the greatest asset at your disposal as they encourage you to run things smoothly.
There are plenty of tools to help you build family routines. From apps to worksheets, scheduling can play a telling role. Meanwhile, age-appropriate chores and rewards charts are hugely beneficial. Embrace them ASAP and you’ll never look back.
6| Set stricter timeframes
Parkinson’s law says that you will use the full allocated time to complete a task. So, if you allow yourself two hours for housework, it’ll take two hours to finish the job at hand. Try to be stricter, and it will motivate you to be more efficient.
In turn, you will have more time for leisurely tasks and activities that you want to do. Crucially, if a specific task does overrun, it won’t ruin your plans for the whole day. Frankly, it could be the biggest step towards time organization of all.
