How and why you should care about your oxygen levels is a little difficult to explain. You’re breathing in and out just fine, you’re not passing out, you're not breathless, so why should you at all care? Bear with this topic for a second. Having good oxygenated levels will improve your life in so many ways. You’ll be able to focus for longer, you’ll have better skin, you will feel less stressed and you’ll also sleep better. Let’s explore the amazing benefits of having good oxygen levels in your bloodstream.
The level to aim for
A normal healthy person will have oxygenation levels between 95% and 100%. This just means that all of your red blood cells are carrying oxygen. When you get to 95% to 90%, this is why you start to feel hypoxia and your brain begins to slow down and become confused. However, just because you are in the healthy range, doesn’t mean you are using that oxygen that your blood cells are delivering, effectively and or efficiently.
Bad habits
It's common medical knowledge that alcohol and smoking harm our oxygenation levels. Too much alcohol affects the heart’s ability to pump oxygenated blood through the veins to the muscles. When your muscles do not get the number of red blood cells they need, they obviously slow down. This is why you feel fatigued after a few drinks because your body isn’t able to transport oxygen as frequently anymore. Smoking is bad for our lungs as slowly but surely, our lungs will degenerate and no longer be able to make the same capacity of oxygen.
Nose breathing
Our nose is amazing. It creates nitric oxide which is used to widen our blood vessels. This in turn allows for more blood and therefore, more oxygen, to be circulated around the body essentially, you increase your body’s capacity for oxygen simply by breathing through your nose. If you have trouble doing this, it may be because your nose has a deviated septum. You’ll know if you have this issue if one nostril is smaller than the other. It can be fixed by a rhinoplasty procedure. These are some of the benefits of rhinoplasty. You’ll have a symmetrical nose which means both nostrils will have the same capacity. This helps your breathing to be more predictable, better paced and more efficient.
Focus more
When your body has fewer toxins in its system, you are able to focus for longer. Your brain will not be supplied with blood that may have carbon dioxide, which is the main cause of toxic waste products. So you should try to open a window in your home office to get more fresh air. Breathe through your nose and try to limit dust in your room. Trim your nose hairs so they don’t hinder air from entering the nasal cavity. Breathing without obstruction can keep your oxygenation levels close to 100.
It's not just how much oxygen you are able to breathe in, but if you are able to transport most or all of it into your bloodstream. So improve your nose breathing, drop bad habits and be more fresh air conscious regarding how you live.
I'm not really aware of these. Thanks for the knowledge!
ReplyDeleteDid not know about this... Thanks a lot! This is really nice!
ReplyDeleteSuper interesting. I try to focus on my breathing a lot, but this gives me even more to focus on.
ReplyDeleteNever knew about this, but this is really cool!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of oxygenation before now and how it important it is...This is great! Thank you so much for the amazing info.
ReplyDeleteI need more oxygen with my asthma. I wish I could do with less seroids.
ReplyDeleteNever knew about the nose playing such an important part
ReplyDeleteI have too never heard of oxygenation before this! I will be careful about it now!
ReplyDeleteIt is a good idea to be aware of Oxygenation.
ReplyDeleteI actually saw this in a Kdrama. Samsung had this app that made the oxygen levels higher in a certain room. So this is why.
ReplyDeleteGlad to learn more about all the things our noses are capable of doing. I don't know all these before. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhen Covid hit, Jason's boss bought all of the workers those finger oxygenation level checkers. I didn't really understand it, I just knew the numbers had to be over 95. This explains a lot!
ReplyDeleteOxygenation is very important. We have oxygen bars here that help with oxygenation.
