Fragrance Samples from The Perfumed Court

Our latest fragrance order is from The Perfumed Court!

I have mentioned before that I love to order sample-sized scents so I can try before I buy. The price of perfume is not inexpensive, so it's important to me not to blind buy (ever ever ever again). I've been doing really good with that self-promise. And I've sold the fragrances I DID blind buy (when I first began this fragrance journey) for great prices, so I'm not beating myself up so much anymore about past mistakes because most of them I didn't like, and I did learn my lesson (I think). My latest two samples are from a company that is new to me, The Perfumed Court. The two samples I have are for men. I found that I like one for my oldest son, and the other for my second-oldest son. Both of my grown boys (what do you call them after they're grown??) have expressed an interest in niche fragrances, so these are good choices for them to try.

The first scent is from Creed, so I knew it had to go to my oldest son because he loves that House and has a few different bottles from them. This one is Viking and he said he hasn't tried it yet. I sampled it and think it smells like a nice citrus with a barber-shop-type of twist to it. I can definitely smell the lemon in the top notes. That fades fairly quickly and the mid is where the barber shop scent, definitely masculine, starts to come into play. It reminds me a little bit of men's shaving cream. When it dries, you can really smell the Sandalwood. It's nice. Not like any other Creed I've smelled. Although I don't love all Creed fragrances, the one thing I can say is that they are all extremely high quality and well blended. I can also say that one of their fragrances (Aventus) is hands down THE best men's cologne I have ever, ever smelled, but these things are getting me off track. The top notes in the Viking are: Pink Pepper, Calabrian Bergamot and Sicilian Lemon; The mid notes are pink pepper, spicy mint and Bulgarian Rose; The base notes are Sandalwood, Lavender, Haitian Vetiver and Indian Patchouli. This lasted all day on my skin.

The second scent is from Xerjoff. I've never tried anything from them that wasn't loud, and my second-oldest sometimes likes bold colognes (Kilian's Back to Black, several Tom Ford's, etc.) so I think he might appreciate this one, which is Xerjoff XJ 1861 Naxos. I tested it and it's too strong and intense for me. It has a strong lavender opening and I think it smells unisex but it does lean (very) masculine. And while it's not a favorite for me, I do want to note that after I tried to scrub it off (this brand is very high quality and hard to get off, which is good if you love it) it smelled SO good. So... there's that...whatever that says about my sense of smell. And when I say SO good, I'm talking divine, delicious, soooo scrumptious good. Top notes are Lavender, Bergamot and lemon. Middles notes are honey, cinnamon, cashmeran and Jasmine Sambac. Base Notes are tobacco leaf, Tonka Bean and Vanilla.

I've also gone ahead and placed an order for some women's samples...ten or eleven of them, which really isn't much considering my Pinterest boards (for fragrances I have tried or would like to try) has over 750 pins on it. Sampling fragrances never gets old for me, and I'm excited for the new order to come in. That particular order has a few Guerlain's in it that I've been wanting to try, especially the Tonka Imperiale that I hear so many people raving about. I hope it's as good as they say. :)  And, if it's not, I'll swap samples with a friend of mine who has started collecting perfumes too (I am telling you, I'm turning everyone in my circle of family and friends into fragrance connoisseurs...even the teen has a few bottles that he is proud to own).

Things I love about The Perfumed Court:

  • Fast Shipping
  • Secure Packaging (so vials do not break)
  • Secure Vials (so fragrances do not leak)
  • Huge variety of brands available, including hard to find scents
  • More sizes to choose from than any other fragrance site I have seen
  • Niche and Designer Brands
  • Quality Customer Service
  • Social Media Presence
If you're in search of a new fragrance for this summer, and would like to try before you buy, The Perfumed Court is a solid place to peruse the brands you know and love, as well as be introduced to new ones. It's a site we'll be visiting again, I am sure of it.

  22. I always love trying a new perfume and have to admit that it is something I need to be in store and in person for in order to buy. I cannot choose by the fragrance description alone... but need to smell it for myself. I will have to be on the lookout for these and give them a sniff ;) Sounds wonderful!
