Let’s face it: being stuck at home when you’re feeling unwell isn’t any fun at all. You can experience a mixture of emotions and feelings, ranging from pain, fatigue, and drowsiness to boredom and monotony. But, there’s not much you can do until you’re well again.
In the meantime, you could take some steps to cheer yourself up while you’re at home. Best of all, you don’t need to leave your home to do any of the following great ideas:
Have an Aromatic Hot Bath
One of the most beneficial things people can do when they’re at home and feel unwell is having a hot bath. That’s because immersing yourself in warm or hot water helps boost your immune system - perfect for getting rid of cold and flu symptoms.
But did you know that an aromatic hot bath will also enhance the experience? That’s because the lingering aroma of certain essential oils like eucalyptus or peppermint oil can help clear blocked nasal passages and clear stuffiness.
Hot baths are also excellent ways to relax and de-stress because if you feel stressed out while you’re unwell, you will only worsen your symptoms.
Order Yourself Some Flowers Online
You’re unlikely to want to go out anywhere when you’re feeling under the weather. Thankfully, the Internet makes it easy to buy all kinds of things and have them delivered to your door.
One such example is with floral arrangements. You can buy flowers online from many retailers and have bouquets delivered to your home whenever you wish. Why should you buy yourself flowers if you’re feeling unwell, you might be asking yourself?
The presence of flowers undoubtedly brightens up your home. However, the smell of some types of flowers can help improve your mood. Plus, some flowers are supposedly abundant in antiviral and antioxidant properties, speeding up the healing process.
Have a Netflix Binge Session
There’s no denying that Netflix offers an extensive range of movies and TV programs available for anyone’s viewing pleasure. You can’t do a lot while you’re at home recovering from your illness, so you may as well spend some time having a Netflix binge session!
The great thing about Netflix and other streaming video services is you can watch content on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. That means you don’t even have to leave your bed to watch some excellent programming.
Just remember to have your charger nearby in case the battery on your mobile device runs low!
Have a Musical Marathon
Last but not least, if you’d prefer to immerse yourself in an auditory experience instead of binge-watching movies and TV programs, why not have a musical marathon? Using your preferred music subscription service, you could create playlists of your favorite tunes.
Spend hours listening to back-to-back songs that make you feel great and have perhaps played a significant role in your life. Did you know that listening to music can help reduce anxiety, pain, and blood pressure?
When I am truly unwell all I want to do is sleep. These are recovery options for me - but I really like the idea of giving myself flowers. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely ideas and pertinent for many having to isolate and recover in the past year. I adore an aromatherapy bath!
ReplyDeleteI vote for hot bath. It will relieve you from anxiety and make you feel so relax. Then you can take more rest.
ReplyDeleteI agree a good hot bath and some music and curling up with a blanket always really helps me to feel better when I have been ill.
ReplyDeleteMusic cheers me up when I remember to listen to it! Sometimes when you're feeling so low, all of the good ideas fly out the window. I need to make reminder cards so I remember to do the things that make me happy.
ReplyDeleteI like the Netflix binge session idea. Engrossing myself in some series takes my mind away from things that make me feel unwell.
ReplyDeleteThere is no worse feeling than having no energy when you are ill, especially with children to look after. I find lots of sleep and watching programmes that make me laugh really cheer me up.
ReplyDeleteOrdering myself flowers is always a good pick me up! Whenever I am ill, I also call my grandma and talk to her.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was struggling with insomnia there was nothing that could cheer me up. I just felt like I wasn't a human. But this post certainly would have been helpful.
ReplyDeleteBeing ill is not that fun, but watching some television takes your mind a bit of the feeling
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of ordering flowers online. I will try that the next time I am feeling ill. I think overall its a good thing to do to lift moods.
ReplyDeleteA Netflix Binge Session is my go to! I love to watch series or movies that I would never watch and gind myself enjoying.
ReplyDeleteThese are great suggestions! I love every one of them!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind being at home and I even prefer it when I am not feeling well. I tend to be a couch potato during those times.
ReplyDeleteI love to be home alone when I am unwell. It's the best time for me to rest my body without the constant interruptions that family brings. I do like to take a hot bath, put a heating pad on my tummy, then snuggle into my bed with some chamomile or peppermint tea and a good book. Or, I'll use my iPad and catch a few shows on Netflix. That usually cheers me up when I'm feeling crummy.
ReplyDeleteI like reading some books and listening to music if I am sick at home
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the bath and the Netflix for me. It's so expensive to buy flowers here, I might feel ill if I see the bill hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually a home body. When working at AIM it was rough starting a job out that way. I couldn't read people as well, they'd tell me folders were shared with me when they weren't. Just too much of that stuff.
