Free Mandarins and a Cute Love Bug Craft for Valentine's Day

Halos are California Mandarins that are sweet, seedless, delicious, nutritious and oh so easy to peel (and that's my favorite part because it takes the fun out of eating fruit if it's too hard to peel!). They're also good for making a cute Valentine's Day project with the kids. 🧡

I think the best crafts are the ones that are fast, easy to make, and don't make a mess. That is especially true if you are doing it in your child's classroom.

Here we are working on Love Bugs for Valentine's Day using Halos. Cute, right?

The instructions are super easy. Grab some toothpicks, some sticky embellishments, glitter glue, googly eyes, and a box of Halos. Then, get the kids.

I was delighted to find that this is a project the little AND bigger kids enjoy making. Give them Halos to decorate with glitter glue and other embellishments, and it's probably not something they've done before (who has actually decorated mandarins?), which makes it cool by default. :)

Another thing I learned, quite by accident, is that boys will take these oranges from girls who have made them, and hold them hostage trying to flirt. No wonder this little guy above looks so worried. I should have known this kind of conflict might occur..they are afterall, called Love Bugs. 😂

I'm thinking these are a fun way to craft your way through Valentine's Day!
