We like these Made by Me kits because they allow us to get hands on with the kids in a crafty sort of way. Even better, we're making crafts they'll see and appreciate all of the time, like this Mix and Mold Stepping Stones Kit.
The kit comes with 4 bags of mix, so you can make a whole set of stepping stones.
You can use the plastic 3D mold to make your stone, or you can design it however you see fit. If you look very carefully here, you can see the dragonfly and leaf on the included plastic mold.
The kit comes with directions, 4 bags of stepping stone mix, mixing stick, 3D plastic mold tray, paint, ceramic squares and gem circles, a paintbrush, gloves and stickers.
The first stone my little niece made with the kit, is a conglomeration of colors. She used paint. I was surprised she didn't use the stickers for this one, because you know, 4-year-olds do love their stickers! Please note that this kit is recommended for ages 6 and up, so if you are working with children who are younger, be very mindful that they do not put any of these things in their mouth! We knew little one would not, but were vigilant anyway in keeping watch. Plus, part of the fun is that you are making this together.
There's something magical about seeing a bag of mold turn into a solid stepping stone that you decorated, and now love. This particular stone has the word 'dad' on it. The next one will probably have her handprint embedded in it. Because it's a mold, so you can do that too. What a great keepsake to have in the yard, where you don't usually get to keep such things. It's a delightful way to decorate the grass or garden, don't you think? We love this one, and we can't wait to make the next one in the set.
