Eliminate Stale Air and Odors even while you Vacation: Febreze Tower Air Purifier

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions stated are genuine and my own.

Changes since Honey moved in: Sheets on the couch (so it isn't used for a scratching post),
a house sitter and a Febreze Tower Air Purifier running full-time during our vacation.

See how the couch is covered with sheets these days? That's because this little honey thinks the material is a great big scratching post!! Never mind that she has scratching posts of her own. 😻
We have had her less than a year (I'm not sure of the date, I need to check our receipts and get it on the calendar so we can celebrate her anniversary!), and we love her so. It's like she's always been a part of the family. There are a few adjustments we've had to make though, like sheets on the couch, hair balls (ew! my first introduction to them, our other older cat we took in never coughed those up!), and her litter!! She buries, but oh my goodness does she ever go! We've tried to gently change what she's eating, altering amounts (yeah, that's not happening, the only time she meows is when she wants food, and boy, does she meow), and even mixing up the times she is fed. No change. Nada. I guess she's just a big pooper, lol. Sorry there was no delicate way to say it. So when we went on vacation, I was a little worried. Yes, we had a house sitter we trust, but you never know how that's going to turn out when it comes to scooping litter. Would the house sitter scoop twice a day? Daily? Every other day (gasp?!). I was worried what the house might smell like upon our return. Turns out, I didn't need to worry.

Not only was the litter scooped, but the house smelled super fresh, and we were so glad!! I had voiced my concern in passing on the phone to my house sitter (and one of my closest bff's) and she assured me all was well. She did say she would plug in the Febreze Air Purifier just the same... since she also worked and was only able to scoop once a day in the late afternoon/evening on week days. If you've ever used Febreze (and so many people have and love it, it's been around awhile), you know it works wonderfully well at eliminating scents entirely, if there are any in the room. This purifier has a spot for you to insert a Febreze scent cartridge at the top. Yay! I love that perk.

The next thing I like about the Febreze Tower Air Purifier is that it is so quiet it doesn't bother the cat (because you know she needs her beauty sleep). It's good for medium to large rooms, so it was perfect for our living room, where we also have the kitty litter box. I know a lot of people prefer to conceal the litter box, but kitty's is covered and because we change it twice daily it hasn't been a problem (unless for some reason you have to skip a scoop and then oh.my.goodness...you learn that nothing takes precedence over scooping without fail, lolol!). The purifier circulates and filters air 5x per hour, and it made me feel more secure, knowing it was in the house while we were gone.

The filters last up to four months,

and the vents are nice and big. I never understood how an air purifier with little vents could work well, so the size of the ones on this tower is one my most favorite features.

It's also super simple to use. There is a a door on the left to insert your Febreze scent cartridge, a scent amount dial (control how much scent you release into the room), and an off/high/medium/low dial. There are also two reset buttons, one for the scent and one for the filter (the red light turns on when it's time to replace your filter or scent cartridge). Doesn't get any simpler than that, which makes me happy. I'm not a fan of complicated.

'
The Febreze Tower Air Purifier is tall too! Although you can get it in different sizes (and colors) we chose the full-sized tower which is 8.58" x 9.96" x 25.71". As you can see in the photo above, it is a very generous size (and isn't the boy cute? He doesn't come with the purifier though). :)

I am happy to report the house smelled wonderful upon our return. There were two things that made me laugh though: 1). The location where the air purifier was put (right next to the litter box, hahahaha) and the fact that it was exactly 6-inches away from the wall (because that's what the instructions said, lolol!).

I did move the location of the air purifier because just to the right of it was the climbing tower. I don't think our cat would knock it down jumping around, but she gets pretty crazy sometimes, so you never know. I actually moved it to my bedroom. The windows don't get opened a lot in there and though it doesn't stink (unless my sweaty basketball boy is coming in there and standing in front of a fan to be funny...but that's a post for another day or never), but it doesn't get fresh air much either. This makes me happier with the air quality, AND that bedroom is the only room with carpet, so it's great for getting rid of pet dander as well.  I've had air purifiers before (and liked them) but this is my favorite to date!! I love it, and kitty doesn't care about it, but we love it for her too. ;)

  1. I need to get this for the house. I have two dogs and three active kids, so odors are always popping up in my house.

  2. I have to admit I always worry about smells and odours around the house especially with the dog and pigs! So this sounds like something I NEED to get hold of.

  3. Sounds like it does the trick. Does it give off ozone though? That crap isn't good. Hopefully she doesn't have cow pattie poop. Orlin has that if he eats certain things, nasty indeed.

  12. What a great idea! I make sure to take all of the trash out before we go on vacation and clean out the fridge. But the staleness of the house closed up isn't pleasant.

  13. Our current house only has a few windows with screens, so when we need to eliminate odors our options are limited window-wise. An air purifier seems like something we should consider.

  14. I've wanted to try one out. Although I've heard that they can build up mold on their inside. Then the whole idea of it cleaning isn't worth it. I should look into them more.
