Everyone seems to be talking about back to school now, and I can see why...it's always best to prepare ahead of time, for some people there are only two weeks of summer vacation left (we have four), and time does go by very quickly. And while I'd like to enjoy what's left of summer (and we will!), we too, have started to pick up things here and there for our back-to-school preparation.
According to a survey*, more than half North American students do not use a locker to keep their items safe throughout the school day, but rather they carry their belongings with them. I am happy to say my children are not included in that statistic because our school system has lockers from K-12.
*Survey conducted by Survey Monkey in May 2014 among Americans representative of a National U.S. Census.
That being said, they need locks for those lockers each year, in order to make the securing of their items effective. Fortunately, Master Lock has the lock (couldn't resist) on keeping school items safe. For my teen, the 1500 eDBX dialSpeed is a digital combination lock that works wonders. This lock was created by Master Lock in 2012 and is not only directional (opens up, down, left, or right instead of traditional rotary style), but is also the first ever digital padlock.
My favorite feature about it is that it allows for one primary code to be set, and three additional guest options (allowing guest users to create their own easy-to-remember codes). There is also an online vault (Cloud storage) she can access, where her code(s) can be securely saved, so I don't have to worry about her, or her besties forgetting the code(s).
Her favorite feature is that the keypad lights up (cool factor), and you can use the directional feel of your code for no-look entry (more cool factor).
The dialSpeed lock comes with an electronic digital interface, and comes with a replaceable CR2032 battery installed. It is a standard-size lock, 2 1/16" wide, with a boron carbide shackle resistant to cutting. Available in black or white. Indoor use only.
The Master Lock 1535 DWD Set-Your-Own-Combination lock is perfect for my upcoming 1st-Grader because he can create and use a short word for entry, and I won't have to worry about him forgetting his combination. If he does forget, resetting it is easy. This is a slim lock, 1 1/2" wide, making it perfect for his elementary-school-sized mini-locker.
The hardened steel shackle is made of cut-resistant hardened steel, the grip dial is easy for anyone to operate, including my youngest child, and it comes in fun colors!

That is so cool that it lights up like that. Locks have come a long way, huh?
ReplyDeleteThose are some fancy locks! They'd be handy for the gym too.
ReplyDeleteRyan was just looking at this post with me and he wants the set-your-own combination lock! That is cool. The Master lock that lights up - that's cool too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the one that lights up.I have not seen any like that here.
ReplyDeleteThese are the nicest locks I've seen, and they have a great marketing program to have some fun challenges kids would like. Many times kids lose their locks, they would like these enough to make sure that doesn't happen!
ReplyDeleteMy son gets his first locker this year and he is freaking out about the combination lock he will have to use. will show him these.
ReplyDeleteThese are great locks for the school or gym.
ReplyDeletewow, those are pretty cool....the students dont need locks at our school....the locks are provided and changed each year...that way if they need searched we can get in them...
ReplyDeleteThose are some fun locks. I especially like the lock with letters on it!
ReplyDeleteI agree! The lock with letters on it looks fun!
DeleteOh so fancy! I remember them when I was a kid, they only came in black. My kids do not need locks yet at their school but they would love these when they are ready for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. My son is getting his first locker this year, and this looks like the perfect lock to keep his things safe this year
ReplyDeleteThose are cool. It'd be helpful for us grown-ups to use at the gym, for example.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
We had to provide our own locks when I went to school - and everyone did. No one carried their books around all day. Now many schools have locks installed on each locker and the kid has to remember the predetermined code. I suppose that system ensures that every kid has a locker with a lock. It is pretty sad, to me, that this sort of thing is necessary... but your stats indicate it is.
ReplyDeleteI always forgot my combination as a kid. If it weren't for my mother working at my school I would have had to had the locks removed. They had to clip it several times in High School LOL. I love the letters lock for my little one. A must have for back to school.
ReplyDeleteI always gave my lock combo to my best friend and thankfully she remembered it. :)
DeleteGreat products, my son is in junior high and wants to ride his bike to school as well, we'll need two as he'll need one for his p.e. locker as well!
ReplyDeleteWe love Masterlock locks because they are so durable. A light up combination lock? My son will be all over this!!
ReplyDeleteWe have multiple Master Lock products and think they are the best! We take the locks to the gym for our stuff and I have the safe that securely keeps our important documents together.
ReplyDeleteI love Master Lock! The lock that lights up and the guest code features are my favorites. These are great products for school lockers!
ReplyDeleteThey make the best locks, I love their locks! I've been using this since I was in high school.
ReplyDeleteThe guest codes is a great idea. They sure know how to build a lock
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool-a far cry from the one's I used to use way back in the dark ages!
ReplyDeleteLove their locks. These are good for kids to feel they have their things safe. My granddaughter carries around her heavy backpack all the time and we have been trying to get different locks on the lockers at school.
ReplyDeleteI like the lock with the letters. I have the darndest time with combo locks and trying to remember the combo.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are some fancy locks indeed. Way cool.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
Here in Trinidad, we don't have lockers (at all). When I was a teenager, I envied the kids on television who used them at their schools. LOL
ReplyDeleteI actually have a MasterLock lock on our shed. I love it (and it has held up so well.) I remember them from my high school days. Oh how far they have come since then!
ReplyDeleteI loved these locks for high school! It was nice to have my own all through 4 year so the combo was always the same!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow that is awesome! man they sure have come a long way since I was in HS. Love the way it lights up!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter could use one of these for her locker this year. Will look into this. Amber N
ReplyDeleteI love these I wish I had seen them last week when my niece was here. We always get her back to school stuff for her and I can remember last year her first in junior high she was more scared of the combination lock than anything else. We bought one and practiced all summer. She would love these though!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is so cool that it lights up like that!
ReplyDeleteI love Masterlock! I still use these locks at med school for my anatomy locker and such. I had no idea they made ones that are so incredibly fancy..now that I know I totally want one :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love Master Lock! We use them on my sons bike chained up outside! Such great products!
ReplyDeleteI love Master Lock. It's the only brand I use. Those things are like a portable Fort Knox.
ReplyDeletePretty cool products. I think the one with lights will be a great treat for my girls.
ReplyDeleteI love the light up one! Great for keeping on a secret hidden trunk. x
ReplyDeleteThese locks are really nice - I will check with Caleb to see if he needs a lock for school - if so I will get him one of these.
ReplyDeletethey come out with such good products these days, i often wish i grew up now lol there are so many options and neat things that we didnt have growing up
ReplyDeleteThey make a great product. They have changed a lot since I have used the combination locks. I know their lock is what we use on our storage unit.
ReplyDeleteMaster locks are the best of the best
ReplyDeleteLooks really sturdy and I like the light-up feature too!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
I love that new circular style! I need one of these for the gym!
ReplyDeleteMitch
We have had probably every single one of those locks to make sure noone breaks into the gym lockers..
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a lock that lights up before. That is really cool.
ReplyDeleteWe always use Master Lock locks. I am loving that new lock with the letter options.
ReplyDeleteBeen using these since I was in school, I love the new designs!
ReplyDeleteWe have used Master Lock ever since I can remember. My Granddaughters use them on their lockers at college too.
ReplyDeleteI love Master Lock's products! They are a definite must-have for teens going off to college!
ReplyDeleteWow, locks are fancy these days! These look great for back to school!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I want to say thank you for everything!!
ReplyDeleteNow for this post, while I am not very familiar with these locks, they do look and sound very good. I will look them up.
Those are some cool locks! I can't believe its back to school already!
ReplyDeleteDid you say digital? wow I can so see this being helpful for the special needs family's I encounter and for my own blog readers this is a awesome find. I remember thumbling trying to unlock my locker only to get frustrated and end up going to class with out my books because I couldn't remember my combo or I had been in such a rush I couldn't get the numbers out right in time. I would love a contact to do a review for Master lock as well.
ReplyDeleteEven locks have gotten cooler since I was in school. Learning how to open a lock actually takes some practice, but the ability to create your own combination is an impressive feature.
ReplyDeleteThey don't make enough pretty locks in the world. I would take the turquoise one (unless they have a purple one that didn't make it to the shoot!).
ReplyDeleteDefinitively I had not included a lock on our list of back to school. What a fun hunt!
ReplyDeleteI love that they come to a variety of colors!
ReplyDeleteHa! I asked the 13 year old if he had a locker and he said he hoped to get one this year... that last year he never could find out where to go to get one so he carried everything... UMMMMMMMM Noooooooooo
ReplyDeleteI would have tracked someone down... lol... not a fan of carrying heavy bags :) (Unless it is full of money !)
I really like these locks. Those are very cute and trendy, my boys don't have a locker.
ReplyDeleteThose are some cool looking locks. I would have loved that when I was in school.
ReplyDeleteMichelle F.
That's cool they have the one that does the words for kids. I was thinking how hard it would be for my younger kids to handle a normal lock. The digital one is pretty sweet too!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a major prize! It sure beats our 37"! That Master Lock 1500 eDBX is really a high tech lock and so much better than the plain combo locks of my day.
ReplyDeleteI love the letters for kids! Love the digital lock. Seems logical that there would be digital options these days! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe only use Master Lock products around our house. We have had a few issues in the past with theft and we know this is the best product to serve our needs. I love the new locks. Pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteLast week my son was looking at their products he wants a super secure lock for his locker.
ReplyDeletethis looks so cool! i ahve some like this too for my luggage and when i go to events for security
ReplyDeleteMasterLock has always been our lock of choice. I really like the word lock. Much easier to remember then a number combination.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that it lights up! I would love one of these for the gym.
ReplyDeleteWowza, locks really have changed a lot since I went to school and had lockers! Those seem almost stylish, even!
ReplyDeleteThe one that lights up looks really cool. I love that you can program more than one code. Super Cool~!
ReplyDeleteMy kids were excited to go out and buy locks for middle school this year. Only to find out, no lockers are used at the school anymore. boo
ReplyDeleteI love the digital lock. I might have to get a couple for myself. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out the Master Lock twitter party. They do have the best locks. My kids aren't in lockers yet. But all too soon.
ReplyDeletelocks for lockers :P i remember those days~
ReplyDeleteI remember having the old school materlock! Great changes since then
ReplyDeleteI still remember my highschool combination. How funny is that?!
ReplyDeleteWow these locks are so different than when I was a kid! A digital lock? Who ever thought that would be around?
ReplyDeleteWOW! Colorful locks are fun and I have a locker when I was in high school, this is cute, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love how trendy these locks look! Master Lock is the best brand for locks, by far.
ReplyDeleteWe havent reached a point where kiddo needs a lock for school yet. However, we recently had to purchase 2 for our lockers at the Y.
ReplyDeleteOh man! I totally just had a flashback to "rigging" my locker in HS. Anyone could get in if they wanted to, but I could never figure out my combination!
ReplyDeleteMasterlock has great items. I love the light up feature.
ReplyDeleteWow, locks sure have come a long way since I was in school! I really like the features on this lock, especially that it allows for one primary code to be set and that there is also an online vault access, where codes can be securely saved.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is always forgetting her combo. The word lock would be perfect for her!
ReplyDeleteI work in a call center and we have lockers there for us to store our personal belongings. Will have to get myself one of these locks! Makes me feel like I'm back in high school again!
ReplyDeleteMaster Lock has so many locks to choose from. I saw one today that was a directional lock.
ReplyDeleteI never use locks for anything... Just don't have a need for it. Looks cool though! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has always used Master locks on her lockers. They are such a trusted brand!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Very trusted
DeleteVery Cool. I remember the good old days when we had lockers and the crazy week when everyone forgot their combos.
ReplyDeleteMaster Lock has always been a trusted brand. I used their locks when I was in school.
ReplyDeleteVery cool that the lock lights up! I'm sure that is very helpful!
ReplyDelete~Amanda
All the new locks that they have are amazing. I remember when it was just the number dial lol
ReplyDeleteI'm half excited for when the time comes for real "school" for my little man, and half dreading it because it'll mean he's growing up! Those word locks look perfect for little guys!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those combo locks that are different colors. The one's where you can make your own combo. That's awesome. My older 3 kids need those.
ReplyDeleteThese are pretty sweet, wish they had these when I was in school, my kids aren't old enough they need these yet for school.
ReplyDeleteI maybe don't need this but they are so fancy looking that I can even use them as a display.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need this right now - but I will keep it in mind for later!
ReplyDeleteSuper cool! I'm amazed at how stylish locks can be- not the old school hunky one!
ReplyDeleteThose are really cool locks, I need to get a couple of the girls when they enter into Junior High this year, but was told to wait because I have to see the lockers first as they fit different locks and the guidance counselor doesn't want us spending money on locks the girls can't use.
ReplyDeleteI used to use these locks in high school! They're definitely quality products.
ReplyDeleteWow, there are a whole slew of locks these days. I remember my lock from high school, and yes it was a Master Lock.
ReplyDelete
