Merry Makers Inc. is such a great place to find storybook characters (they also sell sets that include the plush and the book). They've got tons of family favorites like a great Skippyjon Jones puppet, an awesome 'On the Night You Were Born' plush polar bear, an Olivia, and oooooh my goodness a cute Fly Guy plush, just to name a few.
Do you know 'Pete the Cat?' Chances are if you have young children, you do. Pete is one of our most favorite book characters, and we think one of his best stories is, "I Love My White Shoes." In the story, Pete goes through a number of things (like stepping in strawberries, mud, and water) that change the color of his shoes. We are lucky enough to have the CD for that book, so we like to sing the song while we're reading too.
Here you see the adorable Pete with one blue shoe, and one red shoe. How cute and right in line with one of his best stories.
This Pete is 14.5" tall. He has floppy legs, a long curly tail, cute yarn whiskers, and a well-stitched heart. He's soft, light, and very easy to carry.
Pete's great for snuggling too. :)
What better way to enjoy story time and encourage a love of reading than to present your child with one of his/her favorite story book characters (or introduce him/her to a new one)? I think these would be a great gift to present to teachers too...you know they're going to love having a plush for a story they have in the classroom.
Check out the MerryMakers Inc. website to see all of the great characters they have available. Chances are pretty good you'll find yourself oohing & ahhing just like I do every time I visit.

Pete the Cat! A character from one of our favorite books! |
Pete's got troubles walking through piles of things like blueberries or strawberries. "But does Pete let that get him down? Goodness Nooooooooooooo." |
Pete the Cat, sold by Merry Makers Inc. comes in different sizes & styles. |
Giving Pete the Cat a little snuggle |
