Super Sunday Sync #68

Rumor has it we're about to get a big storm tonight.  The kids are supposed to have their first day of school tomorrow, but it's looking pretty certain that it's going to be cancelled.  The news said that in addition to buckets of snow, it's supposed to get to a record-breaking double-digit, below-zero low.

This is hubby's car already:

Hubby's car is already covered in snow and the storm hasn't even started.

This is the view when I open my front door:

You can see where the cars have traveled from the snow being pounded down by tires, but you can't see any lines.  And our state is broke, so salting the roads where we live, and even on the big roads in town, is not done a lot (and sometimes never where we live).  My son and his wife live in DC and they were amazed at how awful our town is for salting, even on the highways.  It's a shame, really, and can get dangerous too. You have to guess where the lines are, which is doable if you know the road, but scary when you don't.

It sure is pretty outside, but I'm thinking the storm's going to be a real doozey. The news has been non-stop warnings and the city put a warning out that cars couldn't park on the public streets.  Hubby just walked by and said there's a negative degree wind chill factor warning out until Tuesday at 8pm, pushing negative 30 at one point.  If you're in the storm path, stay safe/warm.

And now on to the hop!

  2. Oh I love snow and think that your pictures are beautiful!! But we're not expecting the snow, only the double digit below zero temps. And I DON'T love that! High winds threaten electricity!! Eek!

    Thanks for hosting!

  9. How on Earth have I missed your party before, Rosey? Shame on me.
I know a snow storm is not a pleasant thing to put up with but right now, after spending Christmas and NYE with no snow, I wish I'd have a bit of a storm going on over here.
    Hope you'll be safe. Hugs

  12. Oh my that is a lot of snow already and if more is coming that must be a mess. I would love to see some snow here in NC. We had snow sprinkles at the end or October or beginning of November but nothing stuck. Still was beautiful. I can't imagine being somewhere where you get so much snow. Our high for Tuesday is going to be 19 and I m not looking forward to it. I bet your kids love the snow thought.

    1. The kids really do love the snow. :) You're lucky to be somewhere warm (though I'm surprised it will get to 19, oy!).

  13. Tons of snow here too and expecting freezing rain. They don't close the schools here that often but I'm sure they will tomorrow. Stay safe and warm.

  16. We're in line for the same storm. Hopefully it won't be as bad as predicted, but this year we've already had a lot of snow and cold and the season has barely started. Be safe!

    1. The cold seems to be going down a lot further south than it has in typically done in the past too. My son called today (he's in Palm Beach) to tell me it was beach weather. He's a brat like that. ;)

  17. Yuck to even more snow, hopefully no power goes out at your show

    1. Crossing my fingers on that one too! I hate when the power goes out, especially when it's cold. We have the instruction book out for the generator, just in case, but I sure hope we don't have to use it. ;)

  18. This snow is insane, apparently we are getting quite the rain storm tomorrow which means if it gets really cold afterwards, we will have a ton of ice... so not looking forward to that.

I hope the storm is not as bad a they are predicting, this cold snap that is happening all over the place is crazy... I hope it warms up soon for them... stay safe

    1. You're right, a LOT of places seem to be getting the cold this year. Our summer was not particularly hot either, with days a lot cooler than we were used to having most of the year. Crazy weather.

  19. Omg! Stay safe Rosey! No snow here. Its just really cold. Barely got above freezing today.

    1. Thanks, Heather. The cold is worse than the snow, I think. Stay cozy and warm! :)

  20. wow. you all got dumped on...just cold here but maybe snow overnight they are saying...our first day may be delayed as well...

    1. I don't mind the delay. It's nice to have the kids home that extra day. AND I don't want to drive in it anyway, to get them to school!

  22. We are experiencing quite a snow fall ourselves with record breaking low temps. My poor kids live in town and came to visit me this afternoon getting stuck twice on the way and 3 times on the way back home!! Thank God for some kindly strangers who helped them.

  23. It's looking pretty bad out here too. We are in a emergency road warning state right now. No driving unless it's an emergency! School is cancelled, but thankfully it's being made up in April instead of the nice, warm summer months! Stay safe and warm!

    1. We won't have to do a make-up day for this one, it's the first of the year. They've declared road emergency here too...no need for that for me, I'm not going anywhere. :) Safe and warm wishes to you guys too!!

  24. You're getting hit to. :( It snowed here, but it was more of a dusty snow. However many schools are closed due to strong winds. It's supposed to feel like -45. I'm sure we have a big snow coming.

    1. Not as bad as anticipated. They hyped it up so much that I thought it was going to be so much worse than it was. Better to err on the side of caution, I suppose, where extreme weather is concerned.

All is well, though it IS cold. And you can have as much of it as you want...feel free to take all that you want (no returns). :)
