Definitely Out of the Ordinary

I was up making hubby's breakfast, and thinking (out of the blue) about an event that happened awhile back now.  My daughter and I were driving, it was dusk. We were the only ones on that particular road.  We were laughing and chatting (anyone else notice the car is the perfect place to talk to tween/teens?) and out of nowhere a really large black silhouette, in the shape of a butterfly (we're talking half the size of the SUV window) darted right for us. It was so large, and so startling that I swerved my car automatically, out of the lane (something I just don't do). My daughter saw it too, and her instinct was to duck down to protect herself.

It happened in just a few seconds, but when all was said and done, there were two boys, maybe 13 or 14? riding their BMX bikes in the road. For whatever reason, I didn't see them. If that butterfly-silhouette hadn't of come straight for the window, I would have hit them.

I'm not sure if it was their angel or ours, but I suspect both. It was definitely something out of the ordinary.

Of course some people don't believe in what they call 'such nonsense,' and others have their own stories to tell of extraordinary things that they've seen. I know what we saw.

Curious to know: Have you had anything happen that you knew was a very out-of-the-ordinary thing (in a good way)?

It's as you say, it all depends on your belief system. This does lean toward the side of divine guidance. Riding a bike is dangerous. Driving a car is dangerous. I guess we take our chances no matter what we do. A swerve in time.

    1. Driving your bike in the street should get you grounded, especially when there are sidewalks RIGHT THERE, lol.

I like your word play, it really was a swerve in time. :)

    1. I always thought it was an angel. And I always thought it was funny it looked like a butterfly. But looking at the butterfly silhouette I put up with this post, the butterfly does look a lot like an angel. Maybe that's why angels are depicted with wings because others have seen that same type of thing. Who knows? Just speculating. I thought it was interesting though. :)

Thank you for your visit. I just read your latest post, and it's very chock full of emotion. Hugs to you and your wife.

She was so unnerved that she pulled into the nearest driveway-- which just "happened" to be our church. So she began attending services and placed her faith in Jesus as her Lord & Savior shortly thereafter! God is so good, all the time!

  26. I'm going to say it too...WOW!

I was on my way to work one afternoon. It was raining. I drove over a patch of oil on a hill and lost control of the vehicle. The van left the roadway going backwards, turned back around going up the hill and came to rest tilted slightly to the left. The driver's door would not open. I crawled out the passenger side and looked around the van. A short, low guard rail had kept the driver door shut. If I had ended up a few feet either forward or backward of my position, the van would have rolled down a hill studded with large trees.

  30. Scary! I was driving down a 2 lane highway. Someone decided to drive down my lane going the opposite way; I'm assuming to pass someone up. It scared me so much! Option A) Go in the ditch and possibly die. or Option B) Keep going and hope that they go in back in the other lane; otherwise possibly die from a head on collision.

Luckily for me they went back in the other lane. Maybe luck.

  48. I love stories like this Rosey. It's fascinating. I've heard of one that is pretty bizarre that happened to a friend of my brother's when they were teenagers. These kids were driving so fast on this road, that when they rounded the corner they went up on two wheels and he swears he saw the silhouette of something like a giant hand that kept them from flipping the car....pretty bizarre right?? They might have been smoking a little weed too and maybe they were halucinating...but I heard that and like to believe it was divine intervention.

I was sure it would hit us head on but at just a couple of feet away from us it suddenly went around us and then swerved behind us into the ditch! It almost seemed as if there had been an invisible force keeping that car from crashing into us! (We stopped to make sure they were okay) Any way... Thanks for joining us at Friendship Friday! 63. Wow!!! I have an accident that didn't happen story. It was 2001 (bk). My husband and I went with four other people out to a club for New Years. We brought the New Year in and then we were ready to go. As we were about to pull out of the parking lot we saw one of the other couple running to catch up with us. They were ready to go too but their ride was staying. So we took them back home. Moments later down the road we see a car go through a stop sign, no slowing down. No stopping. I was driving, I just knew in that moment we would have been in the spot where the car was going through at full speed had our friends not jumped in the car with us. Gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.
