I was up making hubby's breakfast, and thinking (out of the blue) about an event that happened awhile back now. My daughter and I were driving, it was dusk. We were the only ones on that particular road. We were laughing and chatting (anyone else notice the car is the perfect place to talk to tween/teens?) and out of nowhere a really large black silhouette, in the shape of a butterfly (we're talking half the size of the SUV window) darted right for us. It was so large, and so startling that I swerved my car automatically, out of the lane (something I just don't do). My daughter saw it too, and her instinct was to duck down to protect herself.
It happened in just a few seconds, but when all was said and done, there were two boys, maybe 13 or 14? riding their BMX bikes in the road. For whatever reason, I didn't see them. If that butterfly-silhouette hadn't of come straight for the window, I would have hit them.
I'm not sure if it was their angel or ours, but I suspect both. It was definitely something out of the ordinary.
Of course some people don't believe in what they call 'such nonsense,' and others have their own stories to tell of extraordinary things that they've seen. I know what we saw.
Curious to know: Have you had anything happen that you knew was a very out-of-the-ordinary thing (in a good way)?
I believe in signs and fate definitely. Lucky escape for you all.
ReplyDeleteLouisa @ My Family & Abruzzo
Def. lucky! Thanks for visiting. :)
DeleteHi Rosey .. well that was exceedingly fortunate - crazy children, but thank goodness your sign appeared for you all ..
ReplyDeleteThank goodness - Hilary
We saw them on the sidewalk riding on our way back, completely unphased, lol. At least they were out of the street.
DeleteI definitely believe in signs and so much more on these lines. And that really was truly a sign and thank god for it, because like you said it saved you from something bad happening.
ReplyDeleteGah, I can't even imagine how awful it would have been if I'd have hit them.
DeleteYour soccer pics were cute today. I love that your husband's the coach!
Wow, that is amazing. Those boys definitely had someone looking out for them that night.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to yell at those boys, lol. Instead I laid on the horn.
Deletei am glad no one got hurt!!
ReplyDeleteYou and me both, and LOL at your 'G's' those are the best ones yet. :)
DeleteHow fortunate this happened!
ReplyDeleteDef. fortunate for everyone involved.
DeleteI certainly believe in things like that. I call them guardian angels as well. He was protecting both you and those kids. I've also had things happen to me that I couldn't explain which is why I believe. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, I love hearing that such things are more common that we might initially think. :)
DeleteI have never had anything quite like that happen to me. Wow...therre was definitely an angel involved.
ReplyDeleteEveryone was pretty lucky, that's for sure.
DeleteRosey
ReplyDeleteIt's as you say, it all depends on your belief system. This does lean toward the side of divine guidance. Riding a bike is dangerous. Driving a car is dangerous. I guess we take our chances no matter what we do. A swerve in time.
Driving your bike in the street should get you grounded, especially when there are sidewalks RIGHT THERE, lol.
DeleteI like your word play, it really was a swerve in time. :)
Happy coincidence or divine intervention? I guess we'll never really know - not yet anyway.
ReplyDeleteThose boys never suspected either, they just thought a cranky old lady was beeping her horn at them, I'm sure.
Deleteoh i def believe...its happened in my life far too often not to believe in stuff like that....very cool...made my arm hairs stand up...ha
ReplyDeleteMy sister-in-law and I both saw the same thing happen once, years apart, in the same place, that was def. out of the ordinary too. We've had other things happen (her and I both) but the butterfly incident was def. unique (and I'm thankful).
DeleteWow, that is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI know it happened, and I know it was a miracle, but it seems surreal now (it did then too).
DeleteSome things have happened a time or two here, and you just never know. Of course could have been the mothman too lol or an alien not wanting his specimens to die
ReplyDeleteIt's no secret I side on the former, but the latter sounds like a plot for a book. ;)
DeleteI believe that we have angels watching over us. You certainly have one too. I'm so happy that you do.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. :)
Us, those boys, or everyone involved had them at that particular moment, and I'm sure glad too.
DeleteFabulous day to you too!
Unseen angel. Good thing you didn't just brace for impact.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it, a million things could have gone wrong (like a car in the lane I didn't even look to swerve into, oy!). Thankfully, everything went exactly right.
DeleteThat was pretty amazing to say the least...
ReplyDeleteI have had a couple of incidents similar to this... I always try to listen... it is always freaky when it happens. Always great when we realize how it changed our lives:)
Or prevented big changes that would have been very difficult to deal with. :)
DeleteThanks for the visit, Launna. I'm headed over to your blog to visit. :)
Is it bad that the first thing I thought of was "The Mothman Prophecies"? Regardless, what a blessing!
ReplyDeleteIs that a book, or movie? I have to go look it up. :)
DeleteI don't believe in coincidences. I do believe in angels. And I think you, my friend, have experienced one!
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was an angel. And I always thought it was funny it looked like a butterfly. But looking at the butterfly silhouette I put up with this post, the butterfly does look a lot like an angel. Maybe that's why angels are depicted with wings because others have seen that same type of thing. Who knows? Just speculating. I thought it was interesting though. :)
DeleteThank you for your visit. I just read your latest post, and it's very chock full of emotion. Hugs to you and your wife.
Angels , luck, divine intervention, call it what you want, but you were all spared that night. Thankful for that.
ReplyDeleteI believe we all have guardian angels and that in being spared, you are all meant for better things.
Thanks for the visit, Dawn. It was def. a good thing, for everyone.
DeleteOh wow, what an amazing and faithful story.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty amazing, almost surreal event.
DeleteI totally believe that it was divine intervention. God was watching over you and the boys!
ReplyDeleteIt was over in a snap and everything was back to normal. Pretty amazing to me!! And I'm OH so glad. You can bet thank you's were instantaneous from me. ;)
DeleteI believe in Angels! What a remarkable adventure!
ReplyDeleteIt was fast, and worked out perfectly for everyone involved.
DeleteA sweet lady, now in the Bible study class I teach, was driving down a busy highway with her window open when a bird flew inside! She was so unnerved that she pulled into the nearest driveway-- which just "happened" to be our church. So she began attending services and placed her faith in Jesus as her Lord & Savior shortly thereafter! God is so good, all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love stories like that one!
DeleteI call things like that God Winks. Sandie
ReplyDeleteI like the name. :)
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI definitely believe in divine intervention, though I've never experienced one quiet as amazing as yours. Thank God for his protection!
I'm so grateful for those boys (and their families), my daughter, and me!! All of us would have had lasting repercussions if had ended differently.
Deletewow.
ReplyDeletethat is like a chicken soup for the soul story there... so thankful.
It was an 'I am SO thankful' moment. No denying it.
DeleteI'm going to say it too...WOW!
ReplyDeleteI was on my way to work one afternoon. It was raining. I drove over a patch of oil on a hill and lost control of the vehicle. The van left the roadway going backwards, turned back around going up the hill and came to rest tilted slightly to the left. The driver's door would not open. I crawled out the passenger side and looked around the van. A short, low guard rail had kept the driver door shut. If I had ended up a few feet either forward or backward of my position, the van would have rolled down a hill studded with large trees.
Sounds like you know exactly what I'm talking about then. Very happy for your perfectly positioned landing!
DeleteWhat an amazing story - I'm glad whoever it was was there to protect you all. x
ReplyDeleteditto that ;)
DeleteSo glad you shared that story!
ReplyDeleteI whole-heartedly believe God can intervene. If we can entertain angels unawares, then they are here and surrounding us. :)
I have to think about it to remember, isn't that silly? Seems like that would be an easy want to pull from the files.
DeleteI believe in signs! Twice now I have gotten signs right before something major. happened, and it saved my family's life . It was freaky.
ReplyDeleteFreaky and awesome. :)
DeleteScary! I was driving down a 2 lane highway. Someone decided to drive down my lane going the opposite way; I'm assuming to pass someone up. It scared me so much! Option A) Go in the ditch and possibly die. or Option B) Keep going and hope that they go in back in the other lane; otherwise possibly die from a head on collision.
ReplyDeleteLuckily for me they went back in the other lane. Maybe luck.
No matter what, I'm glad they went back in their lane, and I know you are too!! moments like that when there's not much to do are downright scary.
DeleteBeautiful story!
ReplyDeleteXoxo!
Thanks for the visit!
DeleteYes yes, I do believe in signs, and angels on our shoulders!!
ReplyDeleteme too :)
DeleteI definitely believe in signs and angels. I really think God was watching over you that day.
ReplyDeleteHe was looking after a whole slew of us at once, that day. :)
DeleteI've never had anything like that happen to me before. But I could definitely believe it was an angel.
ReplyDeleteSide note growing up my dad would often talk to me about sex/birth control in the car. I joked it was because I was trapped. Lol
I know a captive audience and I love it. hehe
DeleteI do believe in signs and things like this happening. Glad these boys are safe and that you are too.
ReplyDeleteTY, I was very glad for all of us too
DeleteI am so relieved that nothing serious happened Rosey! I remember some years ago we were on our way to Ocho Rios and it was a miracle that a vehicle that lost control and was coming straight at us missed our vehicle.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got out that unscathed too, Judy. Seems like so many people have a miracle, and I'm so happy to hear it!
DeleteI have had good things happen out of the ordinary. I certainly believe in this or beings outside of us so I do believe there is always someone or something looking out for us.
ReplyDelete:) Me too.
Deleteim very superstitious, im very happy no1 got hurt xx
ReplyDeleteditto that :)
DeleteThat's a cool story, and yes, I believe it. I, too, have had an odd experience.
ReplyDeletehttp://joycelansky.blogspot.com
Some things are just flat-out amazing and we're lucky when we get the good end of it. :)
DeleteWow! That's an amazing story! So happy everyone was safe. Maybe it was their guardian angels looking out for them?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure their parents would have been none too happy to know their boys were riding on that street. No way was it a street meant for bicycles! Crazy boys.
DeleteSometimes unexplainable phenomena happens and that leaves us with that doubt "How or why did that happen"
ReplyDeleteand sure glad it did. :)
Deletethis is all so intriguing! But I do believe in God and angels so yes, I believe that your angels were looking out for you and the boys that day. Glad everyone is safe.
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
Thank you, Ai. I was/am glad too.
DeleteGlad everyone's safe! Accidents are not nice. Be safe always.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mel. :)
DeleteDefinitely believe. I don't know if it's angels, or us reaching to fit something unrelated into our lives ... but I do believe. Narrow escape for you all!
ReplyDeleteI have had premonition-type dreams my whole life, and they always seem to warn me about the serious stuff.
Oh No! But good to know you are ok!
ReplyDeleteWas it your guardian angel or the boy's guardian angel? Both?
ReplyDeleteWow. I had an experience like that too, where I heard someone coaxing my name to wake up. If I didn't wake up we could have been late for our flight, and this post reminded me of that.
ReplyDeleteI believe in such signs thus I am a believer . It was something to protect you all . It's an omen :) for sure.
ReplyDeleteMust be a guardian angel. I do believe in thing like this. Lucky you Rosey, thank God nothing bad had happened!
ReplyDeleteI love stories like this Rosey. It's fascinating. I've heard of one that is pretty bizarre that happened to a friend of my brother's when they were teenagers. These kids were driving so fast on this road, that when they rounded the corner they went up on two wheels and he swears he saw the silhouette of something like a giant hand that kept them from flipping the car....pretty bizarre right?? They might have been smoking a little weed too and maybe they were halucinating...but I heard that and like to believe it was divine intervention.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I believe in stuff like this 'cause it's happened to me before as well. Well, not THIS but something like it.
ReplyDeleteYep, sounds like there was some intervention going on there! Whew!
ReplyDeleteStupid boys. The lost story here is that you possibly could have discovered a new species of butterfly, if not for those meddling kids.
ReplyDeleteAn awesome story - things have happened that I have stopped trying to understand, but will ask St. Peter about when my time comes.
I do believe in things out of the ordinary, yes. What an amazing story!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I'm so glad an accident was averted. I have had similar things happen where somehow my attention is brought around in time to avoid an accident or just something silly.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up to Raising Imperfection!

I love this story! It really makes you think, especially since I just got back from church.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's very strange. A good thing it happened for all involved, whatever it was.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been Angel Wings! I believe you! One time a car suddenly started driving right for us in the our lane. I was sure it would hit us head on but at just a couple of feet away from us it suddenly went around us and then swerved behind us into the ditch! It almost seemed as if there had been an invisible force keeping that car from crashing into us! (We stopped to make sure they were okay) Any way... Thanks for joining us at Friendship Friday! I hope you'll come again!
ReplyDeleteWow ... that's crazy! Thank you crazy butterfly silhouette for looking out for you and your daughter and the boys. That could have been bad.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to Raising Imperfection.

I don't care what it was, I am just sooooooo happy it happened that way and you all didn't have your lives thrown upside down! That is crazy!

Wow! This is really amazing!
ReplyDeletescary stuff! I'd have been terrified!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what kind of moth that was, or was it something else? :)
ReplyDeleteWow!!! I have an accident that didn't happen story. It was 2001 (bk). My husband and I went with four other people out to a club for New Years. We brought the New Year in and then we were ready to go. As we were about to pull out of the parking lot we saw one of the other couple running to catch up with us. They were ready to go too but their ride was staying. So we took them back home. Moments later down the road we see a car go through a stop sign, no slowing down. No stopping. I was driving, I just knew in that moment we would have been in the spot where the car was going through at full speed had our friends not jumped in the car with us. Gives me goosebumps every time I think about it.
ReplyDeleteWow, must've been an angel! I do believe in stuff like that. Good thing you both were alright.
ReplyDeletei definitely believe in guardian angels and loved your story. i feel like things happen for a reason too...thanks for sharing. my mom and i were just talking about stories like these. <3<3<3
ReplyDeletedefinitely a sign. never has something like that happen to me.
